Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

This is four or five years after "The Cage(TOS)" anyways. Captains change their quarters and decorations almost as often as Starfleet changes the Captain's uniform. ;)

Is it even possible to enjoy a purely episodic show these days? Simple stories that wrap themselves up fully in 45-60 minutes... not really a concept considered "good" any more...
I'm actually looking forward to it! Discovery, unfortunately, has not been able to keep things interesting within an arc lately, and I think Star Trek is more suited to shorter arcs.

I think that it was said that there would be some loose arc setting for this series, but it would be not where every episode is devoted all to that main arc.

The scene kind of reminds of me Kirk on a horse in Generations.
I like this actually better (at first glance of course as we don't have context). As this at least plays off of some of the backstory we got on Pike. Though the winter environment is something we haven't been exposed to so far.

Now Kirk's works , because there shouldn't ever be a time we don't learn more about what a person likes and appreciates throughout the course of the character. But I thank because its so well established how much Shatner adores horses that it felt perhaps more influenced by his person life. But in the same Token part and parcel of Picard is his love and appreciation for dramatic works (Clearly something Stewart absolutely loves), but it was also something introduced almost from the moment the show began so felt less actor centric, and more part of the character. For myself at least.

Wo, after all the hype caused by the takedowns weeks ago, that was... not much:lol:

I hope it's good. It looks lush, at least. Nice update on the TOS shuttle, I'm pretty sure I've seen it before somewhere either in concept art or a near-identical bit of fanart.

I can't wait for the episode where they make contact with an aquatic world, and Pike rides a seahorse like Aquaman. You know they've got to!

They must! They should!

It's a Western Electric 500, early one too, metal finger wheel, not plastic.

Rotary phones are to the 23rd century as pitchers and basins are to the 20th: very common household items and, therefore, very common antiques! Lovin' Pike's "away-from-it-all" vibe ... but I wonder why?

It looks like a hybrid of the Trek 2009 medical shuttlecraft and the TOS design. Which would work perfectly since the Kelvin's medical shuttles looked very much like the TOS design. Boxy, relatively small and with TOS-like contours.

Now that you mention it, I cannot think of a single drama I watch anywhere using the classic one and done formula.

SNW's will be unique flower in a field of sameness.
