Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

And of course Pike's on a fucking horse:lol:
Why not? Clearly they are leaning in to Star Trek's Western roots, including the idea of frontier. Makes sense to me.
I'm actually quite happy that there's no difference than what was seen before. At this point it's really not necessary to have the ship have yet another refit that we knew nothing about before, just to make it look more like the TOS Enterprise, which they obviously have no intention of morphing this ship into.

Of course, it's a bit confusing that other shows like LDS and PRO have shown the TOS Enterprise in its original configuration, and not this version.
It's a strut. It's like replacing tires on a car. I don't think KITT is different because he suddenly has different tires or something.

That's not it.

Memberberries. Nostalgia bait. Like the entire show.

I don't see how the two are exclusive. And who cares if it is nostalgia? That's all Star Trek is nowadays. It doesn't do brave and new but familiar and comfortable. That's literally what Trek fans demanded with Pike. It's not a bad thing if that's what the audience wants.

Using my model as a guide, this appears correct but not 100% certain. At the proper angle the opening is hidden by the front edge.

But, background light leaks through the top of the opening, shines on the back edge. Given the brightness of the planet back there, light should be shining through the slit if present, but this above is CG. The light must be added.

At first I thought the nacelles had less of a notch cut into them, but now I'm starting to think that it really is the same model.

I'm a bit surprised they've apparently given up an opportunity to sell people a new version of the old toys and model kits.

Its been confirmed that the character named "La’an Noonien-Singh" is related to Khan, and it's not a coincidence like so many here tried to argue.

She’s related to Khan, for sure, and, uh, and the deal will unfold…” Goldsman said. “We don’t want to bring folks into the show to be splashy. We want to dig deeply into characters that are part of our ensemble and then, obviously, we’re open to getting our arms … but right now, what you see is what you get.”

Edit: Changed my post from saying the character named after Khan to putting the characters actual name in

Big deal. Both Lower Decks and Picard trade HEAVILY on TNG and VOY nostalgia directly and many a TNG Era fan is screaming for more orginal TNG cast cameos.

Yep, it's horrible when a franchise with a 55+ year history starts to really lean into/make use of said history.

And let's be fair here and say if they weren't, the detractors would then be claiming it's not Star Trek because it doesn't take any of the 55 year history of Star Trek into account or use it in any way.

So yeah, damned no matter what angle they take.

We all know they hate Star Trek and are only doing this to make money anyway. They don't actually care and would burn all past Treks to the ground if given the opportunity.
