Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

They don't care like fans care. Obviously

For me, it's all about the 'reruntability'. When I watch the Trek series in their interdiegetic 'chronological order': Does it break my suspension of diesbelief or not? 'Discovery', e. g., does it in some terms (in my eyes, the Section 31-part just didn't fit into the way, this orgainísation was played out in DS9 and ENT), and in other, it definitely worked well for me (Sarek and Pike e. g.). With 'Strange New Worlds', it will be the same, I guess.

I saw the new Enterprise Transporter room set today. Much nicer than Discos colour wise.

This one has a slightly different layout (storage rooms on other side next to pads vs the door) and lots of green glass. The control panels are alternating black and white and look hefty. Im gonna try to see the other sets.
I'll bite.

How much set sharing is going on between Discovery and Strange New Worlds, from what you may have seen?

That's fair. I think S31 worked fine, as did Sarek and especially Pike. But, there were still difficulties that still that a bit more squinting. Doable but yeah it definitely stands out.

Hoping to see some of these promos for ComicCon panels!

@Hoity Toity I was worried that the metal set would mean it would be difficult to re-locate, so they may be sharing space at both facilities. Which may mean less standing sets for SNW itself.

I am hoping the corridors will look less like Discovery's and that we may get an Engine room that isn't a green screen job!

It's all in execution. The bridge was done well, a good blending while feeling appropriately futuristic like Discovery or the Kelvin. If they continue on a similar vein I'll be appreciative. If not, well, it's a transporter room, not the bridge.

The important thing is it needs to have character. The biggest problem with all the production of both DSC and PIC is it's all so soulless and homogenous. TOS design was a Beatle: Simple, cheap, but instantly identifiable. Berman era was a Gulf: A dated yet rakish style over a workhorse frame. nuTrek is a modern white Passat parked between a modern white Accord and a modern white Camry: drab and utilitarian and you can't tell it apart from anything else on the market.

It's green.

By the way, I never noticed the art on Scotty's wall looks like a TMP-era warp nacelle, and appears to be mounted on the Kelvin-verse Enterprise! (the saucer is cut out of the picture to the left...).
