They clearly do care if you watch any of the BTS materials and read/listen to interviews. They don't care.

Oh, B&B treated TOS like the redheaded bastard stepchild in the basement that they didn't want to reference more than they had to. Kurtzman Trek might not be enamored of the original look of TOS but they haven't designed entire series around avoiding TOS unless they absolutely have to toss in a nod or guest star from the original. The Kurtzman Era surely isn't alone in thinking newer Trek is cooler.
They don't care like fans care.
Yup, but it is in vogue to treat the production team as bastards who don't give aYeah, because it’s impossible to care “like the fans” when there isn’t a monolithic way fans care. There are as many ways “the fans” care as there are individual fans.
Someone's projecting...They don't "hate TOS."
They don't care.
They were hired by the owners to mine this IP, and they don't have particularly good taste.
Have to what? You have to as why is that.
Oh my god that is so true.Strange New Worlds really is in an impossible situation. It's designed to appeal to people who will never fully approve of it because it will never be 100% exactly like TOS. Yeah, they're making this series because so many people liked Pike in DSC S2, but they're also making this series for people who don't like DSC and PIC, because they're trying to cover all the bases by trying to have something for everyone. They think this is another one of the sub-niches they have to fill. And that's where the problem comes in.
Elephant in the Room: That's why I think they're making a mistake by even having this series in the first place. A lot of people here think they want this show, but they really actually don't. It's never going to satisfy what they want, which is this impossible idea they have in their heads. They like the idea of SNW as a series, but they'll never fully like the reality of it being an actual series, when they're finally, really watching it.
So you'll see a lot of disappointment in the SNW Forum, after the first episode premieres, not because the series won't be any good, but because it's not going to completely match whatever it was they thought it was going to be. The series itself will probably be fine, despite whatever it is they'll say.
Yeah, a human-looking alien is fine.Well, he could be human looking alien. Not like Trek hasn't done that before.
Neutral. They kept their ire on Burnham, Tilly, and Georgiou. Basically, characters with breasts. No, I don't think that's a coincidence IMO, given how much they like Kirk/NuKirk, Barclay, and Dukat/Garak/Damar & Mirror Spock... but that's a whole other topic.Speaking of which, I didn't pay attention to the reaction of Spock. Is he not liked by some, or is it neutral or what? He's my favorite Spock ever, so I'm good. But I have no idea what the general consensus is...
Don't forget Mirror Universe Spock! Certainly had many issues.Vulcans like to grow facial hair when they go awry and have personal issues. The leader of the Syrranites in ENT looking for the Kir'Shara. Sybok, yet another son of Sarek. Spock in his twenties.
Sega came frightfully close … and in 1982, too.You can never duplicate Nimoy's tone of voice
When Springsteen first made it big, people endlessly compared him to Dylan. It's funny. When Zachary Quinto was first cast as Spock, I was struck by how much he reminded me of Leonard Nimoy. When Ethan Peck was first cast as Spock, I was struck by how much he reminded me of Zachary Quinto.
