Not really. You need to test negative to Corona before you're allowed to enter the country, and once you do enter you need to spend two weeks in quarantine.

She said she might just drive up there in the car as that's probably the safest for her due to her health issues.

IIRC, he's already confirmed as directing an early episode of Picard season 2, so he'll likely be waiting around in the US for whenever that happens rather than bouncing back and forth between LA and Toronto and having to deal with fortnight quarantines each times he arrives in any particular place. Indeed, I think a similar reason was given for why he won't be directing any Disco season 4.

For me, Strange New Worlds is the ultimate Star Trek spin-off. It's the era of Trek I've wanted to see explored for so long. I get so damn excited whenever there's even an inkling of news on it.

Honestly, I would be so into there being a Short Trek centered on the construction and launch of the 1701. There are some wild rumors that Bakula is returning as Archer and I think this would be perfect to see a much older Archer present for its launch.
