Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Rumor has it that the delay in the release of SNW Season 3 is due to Paramount/CBS being told by the Trump Administration that if they want the Skydance buyout to happen/be approved by the FCC, Paramount/CBS has to eliminate all DEI & Woke policies, including in their productions.

The rumor is essentially that Season 3 has been held up so that the episodes can be re-edited to comply with the new directive from the current Administration.

If there was any truth to that, they wouldn't have released the trailer last week.

So they've announced this premiere event but still haven't announced a premiere date for the general audience? This is turning into an extremely frustrating cock-tease. Just announce the general premiere date already!
They want to sell tickets to the event, so yeah, they're not going to say anything official beyond what they have already.

BUT - in the past. every time they've premiered an episode at a Convention it's appeared on P+ at the same time.

Has the franchise ever done release date bingo like this before? It's really getting tiresome.

They did twice with Disco. Granted, the first time was with the third season, which was 2020, a year of a lot of unknowns, so I give them a pass there. The other time, the final season, which was juggling the strikes and having to rewrite the ending of the finale, so possibly excusable. Though in both cases it did get frustrating where we kept having the cast and producers/writers pumping the seasons as "great stuff" and "it'll be worth the wait." How about stop telling us it's worth the wait and tell us how long we're waiting?

But, here with SNW, there's no excuse for the way they're going. We know the season is complete, hell they're halfway through filming the fourth season. And now they've announced a screening at a film festival. There is absolutely no reason to withhold a premiere date at this point. And before anyone suggests it, no the merger isn't to blame here. The merger hasn't prevented Paramount+ from releasing other shows, greenlighting shows or renewing shows. It hasn't prevented them from announcing the premiere dates of other shows streaming this year, and as we see with S4, it's not standing in the way of production of any shows. It's a complete non-factor in this matter.

I would imagine that they were simply looking for the best "window" with the least competition.

I think it's more:

"We have two Star Trek related streaming items for 2025. We'll release the first one in January; and the second one in June..."

Competition doesn't really enter into the equation as it's there on demand for any subscriber to watch at any time after its debut.

There is more info from Trek Movie:
SNW S3 Premiere t the festival at 5:00 PM on Saturday 6/14/25.

(They think it will release on P+ the following Thursday, but I have a feeling P+ will get that Episode on the same Saturday and Episode 2 will release the following Thursday and then a new episode every Thursday after that through episode 10. I base that on the fact they did something similar with a Star Trek episode that released at a special panel on a Saturday. The episode popped on P+ the sane time the panel showed it and the dropped the next episode the following Thursday.)

But yeah, we'll see.

Not sure what exactly is happening here, but does this Klingon zombie have two (!) set of teeth?

To me it looks like they're wearing skin on their faces. So wearing the skin of their enemy.
