Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

That is Terry Matalas proposed name for a follow up Trek series. It only exists in fan imagination but it's awesome according to some.
That's Lord Terry. Matalas be thy name!

*side note: I think I actually miss the constant squabbles over in "Picard". It's been too quiet lately. This must be what it's like being a masochist.

Maybe next month we can deify Akiva Goldsman.

Ep 10 title reveals who the 'big bad' for SNW basically is.
What is this guy's source? I haven't been able to find anything official about this.

Didn't she get hired as staff writer for the new Starfleet Academy series? So that makes her WGA. In which case anything she ad-libs might be considered"writing?"

Yes, that is what she indicated, and that is what I said in my initial post on the matter here:

I'm not nervous about S4 episodes. Those would have been written and recorded a long time ago. But actor Tawney Newsome is on strike (because she is also a staff writer for Starfleet Academy), and strike rules prohibit her from doing any improvisation when recording dialogue, which would be departure from previous seasons on LD. So the strike will affect production of S5 if it isn't resolved soon.

So even if Star Trek: Lower Decks is covered by the Animation Guild rather than the Writers Guild of America, Newsome is still prohibited from improving on Lower Decks and therefore the strike could affect production on season five.

I love the SNW engineering section of the ship but it's so busy with the lighting and stuff going on, and looks huge, are we sure this Enterprise also doesn't have a case of bigger insides like Discovery?

Nah, there's a way to reconcile the SNW look with the TOS Engine Room. Refit at Spacedock or a Starbase by the time Kirk takes command. The "cathedral" of warp plasma tubes running to the ceiling are basically what we saw behind the mesh screen in the TOS Engine Room, just more detailed. "Ephraim and Dot" in Short Treks also shows the TOS Era room to look like that so it's just a matter of six years and some refit work.

The rest? Suspend disbelief.

I love the look just it seems very busy

With the exception of the one "Turbolift Fun House" shot from one of the "Short Treks," the Enterprise has been pretty well represented in terms of scale. Everything seems to fit rather nicely, if not a little snug in the secondary hull.

Supposedly, we're going to get a look at the Shuttlebay this season, which should pretty much fill in the gaps we have of the secondary hull. We'll have seen the massive Main Engineering, the main cargo bay that's below, and finally the Shuttlebay in the aft.
