Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

Yeah, admittedly, neither of those writers is someone whose work gives me great cause for optimism. On the other hand, the concept has tons of potential.
You mean the guy that wrote a Transformers movie isn’t a good writer?

This kinda puts the breaks on the rumours that Discovery was sent to the future to avoid being a prequel.
Not necessarily, just because Strange New Worlds will be a prequel doesn't mean that it might not be better for Discovery to not be shackled as such. Discovery never felt to me like it wanted to be a prequel, it was shackled as such but never leaned into it so it just seemed more of a burden than a strength (IMO).

Discovery defies categorization. That's what I like about it.

He also won an Oscar for A Beautiful Mind ;)

And wrote The Dark Tower, 5th Wave and Angels & Demons and iRobot and etc. etc etc.

He's had a lot more rough than diamonds

(I like Nutrek. I think it has issues, and a lot of those issues stem from Kurtzman and Goldsman, but overall I'm a fan and am super excited for Strange New Worlds)

I have moved a little to the "I believe this is a thing"; however, I still have one foot in the skeptical camp. I remember other projects with bold announcements that ended with a fizzle.

I will give this show, if it airs, a chance as I have done other Star Trek shows.

I must have been browsing this thread 10 minutes before the announcement dropped wondering why people were still thinking it would be called Enterprise when Enterprise is part of the Trek library that now has 10 named shows or 8 names live action ones. Plus short Treks. Having 25% of the shows have the same name would have been absurd. SNeW is better than SNoW IMHO.

Anyways this is great. I wonder what the format will be. I'd be all for the latter ENT format. Maybe ENT squared. 3 - 4 episode mini arcs that also form a 3-4 mini arc main arc.
