Spoilers Strange New Worlds General Discussion Thread

I'm hoping it'll be a combo of 2-4 episode arcs with a one off comedy and battle episode thrown in as well. Give them enough time to actually set up and explore stuff TOS style but also not be rushing each event and becoming too formulaic.

Although they will have adventures that might have a clean B-story, I'd be amazed if there is not an overall arc because that is simply the streaming model.

Maybe do like TNG, and have things going on in the background and some episodes that culminate into a big event (ie return of the Romulans, Borg reveal, Sela reveal, and the Klingon Civil War).

Well to be honest, I don't want to return to the 90s, it's gone, it's over - I prefer serial.

What I mean is having the fact that its serialized not be so obvious like Discovery. Have the Enterprise crew explore different worlds, and then have a finale where all that they learned during their journey ends up helping them in some way. Something that shows that there's more to space exploration than just sating your utopian society's morbid curiosity.

SNW? How are we suppose to make fun of that acronym? /s

"Ugh, more of that Mary Sue, SNW nonsense..."

"Ess-Enn-Doubleyou" is more of a mouthful to say than "Strange New Worlds"; it'll probably be shortened to just "Worlds" or something.

I can honestly say that I've been crying tears of joy. It's a true pinch me moment. For me, this is probably the ultimate Star Trek spin-off. An entire series set aboard the original Enterprise exploring the years of the ship before Kirk took command. There is so much rich potential to explore this time and (because you know we always go down this road) so few opportunities to violate the sacred Star Trek canon. So little is known about this time in the ship's history and we just know that the show's logical conclusion is Kirk taking command. What happens between now and then can be just about anything.

And I really REALLY hope the title of the show is true to what it will be: exploring space. I don't want any season-long arcs anymore. I've grown exhausted by them. If you want to do a few smaller ones in the vein of season 4 of Enterprise, fine. But this show needs to really stand apart from its contemporaries both in concept and structure.

How about that? Trek fans are actually getting a series they asked for. I think I'll go play the numbers today.

I hope the show is just called Star Trek and "Enterprise" and "Strange New Worlds" are the titles of the first two episodes.

Let Star Trek be Star Trek for awhile.

100% agree. In 1965, Gene Roddenberry submitted a pilot episode featuring the USS Enterprise commanded by Captain Pike. It was rejected at the time, but it seems, 56 years later, it's finally going into production with a few minor tweaks and casting changes.

Yeah, admittedly, neither of those writers is someone whose work gives me great cause for optimism. On the other hand, the concept has tons of potential.
Even as a nuTrek hater, I still must admit I do love the title.
