Honestly, I'm just glad they have it. It looks super fun, a blast to play with, and something neat to explore. I could care very little if it is a desert world or outer space. Just have fun team!

I think Star Trek, over most other series and franchises, would really benefit from the use of all-encompassing green screens. Especially if they continue to use constructed sets for repeat shots (the Bridge, Sickbay, corridor, etc.) and the green screen for planets and ships of the week that would be cost-prohibitive to make (and shouldn't be reused). Actors should act with other actors (even if they have to CGI overlay a guy or two), and it'd probably be a good idea to set up props and stage accessories to give them a better feel for the set that can be keyed out later or simply interacted with.

If James T. Kirk appears in the show, I think Chris Pratt would make an excellent Kirk. In fact, he actually auditioned for Kirk for the Star Trek 2009 movie but they rejected him and told him "He doesn't have what it takes to be a leading man in a movie."

I'd imagine Mount is referring to the tone and structure of the show, and not to how original the stories are, or how many references to previous shows there will be. Not sure how that's eye-roll worthy.
