Spoilers Stargirl - Season One Discussion Thread

The only reason I didn't talk about what Cindy and Henry did is because I thought it was so fucking obvious that there was no point even talking about it.

What if it was more than one video on Hank's phone?

400, or 4000 video's of Yolanda doing things for the man she loves?

Looks like the show is renewed, but CW exclusive. I hope that doesn't signal a dip in quality. Hopefully someone out there will take note that this show is working.

Chances for crossovers have increased somewhat with this news.
The episode was pretty good. Yolanda isn’t as dumb as it seems; Knowing who Stargirl is. I’m guessing that Japanese Guy is the person under the dragon hood. That’s what I’m calling that chap. Dragon Hood.

Just saw the news about the renewal, glad to see it coming back. This seems to me like another point against DC Universe's future.

I'm spoiler tagging this just in case, it showing early on DC makes this awkward.

Is it bad that I find myself rooting for Cindy Burman? The characters continue to act really stupidly in the face of danger. And does Pat not have any cars available but the Buick? *sigh*

On the plus side, the fights were cool and at least Cindy has one functioning brain cell. I liked that shot where they took Cindy down the sewer upside down, that was different. The show is breezy fun, maybe I'm too hard on it but it seems like I'm always questioning what is shown despite trying to roll with it. Like Pat saying he's Beth's mother, I know it was a last minute save but that seems really risky that would get back to Cindy or someone and blow up even if she hadn't already figured it out. I mean it's a small town, and they all go to the same school and seem to be in the same grade it seems like that would go bust pretty easily.

Another question I have is how old is everyone? It seems like everyone was around in the 50s or something but no one brings any attention to it. Did I miss the explanation or am I reading that wrong or what?

You mean Cindy. Yolanda is Wildcat.

Close -- Dragon King, aka Dr. Shiro Ito.

He may, but it might've looked suspicious if he crashed a different car than the one he'd be expected to teach Courtney to drive in.

We were supposed to think how selfless and fatherly he was to sacrifice his beloved car for his daughter, but then he turned around and was a bit of a jerk by blaming it on Courtney's driving.

They're being pretty true to the Justice Society lore from the comics. The JSA was based on Earth-2, the world that the original 1930s-40s DC comics had been retconned to take place on, but there were still stories being told about them (and their kids in Infinity Inc.) set in the then-present day of the 1980s, so there were all sorts of excuses made for why the heroes and villains had their lives prolonged so they'd still be active decades later.

Looks like Courtney and Infinty Inc/JSA will be changing earths following the upcoming Zero Hour event Dec 2021.

At this point I guess I shouldn't put it past them, but I'd prefer it if they used Stargirl crossovers as a way to re-establish the multiverse as a story element in the Arrowverse.

The episode airs on a Monday on the DC Universe app

Is that confirmed as the next one? Parallax isn’t even around yet.
Is every show getting a “zero” episode?

No, I think that was a joke. We know they aren't going to try to do another huge all-series event next year, but instead will go for a smaller crossover. The announced one was between Batwoman and Superman & Lois, but the cast and story upheavals on Batwoman may call that into question.

Superman and Flash could work. They could do the race.

They can both time travel.

That race was never fair.

If one is faster, the other can arrive at the finish line before the race started.

Barry and Kal may not cheat like that, but Wally would.

Shame it's going to have to cope on a CW budget as on the FX side it looks so much better than any of those shows.

The cost would have become not sustainable like "Swamp Thing" and it would be on a dying streaming service.

Folding it into the CW is the best option. I think it can take over "The Flash" as family entertainment since that show hasn't been good since season 1.

The race was done for charity. They wouldn’t cheat.

It doesn't matter who wins, the orphans still get paid.

Besides, this race has happened a few times in the last 60 years.
