Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

Ooh, that one’s really nice and clever! It’s fun recognizing the voices. I think I got everyone right, or did I?

Archer: A few courageous people began to realize they could make a difference. (ENT: “Judgment”)
Sisko: Not to conquer you with weapons, but to coexist and learn. (DS9: “Emissary”)
Spock: The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. (Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan)
Kirk: Risk is our business. That's what the starship is all about. (TOS: “Return To Tomorrow”)
Worf: The true test of a warrior is not without. It is within. (TNG: “Heart of Glory”)
Burnham: In life, we can only look forward. We have to be torchbearers. (DIS: “Saints of Imperfection”)
Janeway: We have no idea of the dangers we're going to face. (VOY: “Caretaker”)
Pike: But I'm here to remind you of the power of possibility. (SNW: “Strange New Worlds”)
Picard: The past is written, but the future is left for us to write. (PIC: “Broken Pieces”)

They picked a good quote from Worf, but at the same time his inclusion feels... strange, given he was never the lead of any of the series he was in, and wasn't a Captain until that one season of Picard.

Historically, Worf might be seen as one of the most important personages in Klingon history, particularly of that era. He was directly responsible for the ascension of two chancellors and an Emperor.

Which is fine for Klingon history, but that's not really relevant to Starfleet in terms of this trailer.

Keep in mind, I'm purely talking about the presentation in the trailer alone.

He was the first Klingon in Starfleet and his voice over plays during scenes featuring jay'den. So there may be parallels (apart from species) between the two characters.

Worf and Spock don't fit the pattern as the rest were series leads but the two of them are extremely important figures in the franchise, both very recognisable with lots of screen time across multiple series.

Worf is in more Trek than any other character. It's not remotely surprising he was included, especially with a Klingon student.

Unrtelated, I hope we see at least one Ferengi student. And that their make-up is more like the DS9 style (or even PIC style) and not the awful Discovery background mask that got a close-up.
