Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

What Jessie Gender thinks of an episode of Trek doesn‘t “make or break” my own enjoyment of that episode (or show) and it certainly won‘t dictate what I will think of it, but it absolutely makes me excited for the possibility that I too will like it. Just based on the history of what she did and didn‘t like about previous episodes. Nothing weird or “groupthink” about it, so maybe let‘s not throw around such over-the-top interpretations?
Is that yet another empty YouTube talking head with an 'expert' opinion on Star Trek?

IDK why people bother with these idiots. If I only watched stuff based on others reviews, I doubt I spend time actually watching anything.

Who cares what others think? If I like something overall I keep watching. When I don't, I quit -> (I'm looking at you, VOY.)

Trust your own opinion, not some talking head with a monetization or other agenda.

looking at the clips for this show one thing is clear:

They clearly don't have Ozempic in the 32nd century, (or Gyms)
Thats for sure. With all the perfectly healthy food they create where are all those calories coming from? Lol

What bizarro universe have I transported to? Are some people just now discovering the concept of reviewers? Since when does reading reviews mean you don‘t have your own opinion about something? I’m sorry, but this is ridiculous.

Not what I meant. I read reviews but some people take them too seriously. Like RLM, Critical Drinker and Nerdrotic for instance.

Jessie is anything but an "empty YouTube talking head." She produces some thoroughly well-researched videos.

Ah yes, Jessie "Hamas" Gender.

With "thoroughly well-researched videos" you mean calling Hamas an organization that "fights back against systemic violence" [from the Jews].

Star Trek "expert" Jessie "Hamas" Gender doesn't know the difference between "Galactic Barrier" and "Great Barrier":

I don't believe for a second you've actually watched her videos. You had these out of context clips far too quickly.

I have no doubt that the ignorant comments about Jesse are due to nothing but brain dead homophobia. I mean, the person behind the comments has already shown the entire board who they really are more than once. When someone shows you who they are, you should believe them the first time.

seems a bit of a disconnect doesn't it?
by the 24th century they've cured things like cancer, substance abuse, tobacco use, but apparently not type 2 diabetes, or obesity? does not compute...

anyhow, I get it, I used to be obese myself, but then I committed to weight training and good nutrition, so any comments like this are from a place of experience, not malice :-)

Still, I‘m telling you these kind of comments don‘t fly here. Consider this a friendly warning. Actors (or, very specifically and unsurprisingly, *actresses*) may not have the body types you expect or like to see, but that does not make them “obese” or in need of being “cured”.
