Starfleet Academy General Discussion Thread

"I don't want to be an X-Man, I want to be an Avenger!" ;)

The United Earth Starfleet from 2132 to 2161 didn't have an Academy per se. There was Starfleet Training, a four-year program to graduate new Starfleet officers to serve aboard early ships, but no dedicated institution or campus.
I'm not sure that's accurate. We do have some evidence to there being a dedicated Starfleet Academy, namely this....

I think the Internet pointed it out back in 2004 and they straight up acknowledged that the graphics department used the wrong word. Earlier in the series there's a certificate belonging to Hoshi or Archer(?) that says they completed the "Starfleet Training" program with no mention of a formal Academy.

Which is becoming the stupidest thing to me when people want change in STAR TREK. Don't support a product if you want it to change!

People baffle me. This isn't even first world problems anymore but zero world problems, were expending energy on something I don't like is considered positive! 😵‍💫

I give all live star trek tv series a chance. I have no idea if ill hate it or not.

No one here said "all of us" hatewatch. But many YT critics do, and that's what I'm taking shots at.

Ah ok.

If Jessie Gender is singing its praises then I suspect it will probably be to my liking. She and I don't always agree on everything, but our tastes for Star Trek do lay in similar directions. We got that positive review of the pilot in the Trek Movie article comments, and Jessie says that that's actually the weakest of the episodes that she's seen. I'm glad that Paramount still saw fit to give her early access, despite her very negative reviews of Strange New Worlds season 3.

I will also be interested in hearing Steve Shives review, although I admit I prefer his "Trek Actually" video essays to his reviews.

I dont care for reviews myself, I have zero use for anyone else's opinions but unfortunately targeted campaigns before a product is release can work. People see a huge wave of negative responses and automatically decide not to bother with a thing.

It's a bit of a weird thing to advocate but people should stop giving a shit about what complete strangers think.

Kind of weird to say this on an online message board, isn’t it? The entire idea of this place is to learn what complete strangers think about Star Trek.
