I didn't say it's needed, just wondered if they'll decide to go that route. It nothing else, it might serve a function of tying Fett back into Mandalorian society somewhat, since TCW basically turfed him and his father out.There's no need for any of that. The only reason that stuff even existed in the first place was so people with the militant canon-completist mindset could pretend Attack of the Clones didn't blow Boba Fett's Tales of the Bounty Hunters backstory out of the water. But it did.
Given that the old EU is gone I don't see any particular reason to go back to that mess.
Personally, I don't particularly care either way. I was never terribly enamoured with how convoluted the EU got in it's attempts and I like that they cleared the decks.
That said, it could potentially be an interesting and unexpected way to re-introduce Fett. Westerns are very much part of Star Wars's DNA and having him show up as a retired gunslinger turned backwater lawman has "Old West" written all over it.
