Star Wars Rebels Season Two (spoilers)

^^
Methinks no.
Having a show end on "and then everybody dies" would suck even if it were "true to canon".

I don't think they will either. Killing 'em all to adhere to canon is too easy. It's much more ambitious to try to go a different route--of course, it's also much more prone to failure.

Another preview clip of the next episode. Alderaan send relief supplies under the authority of the Senate.

The facial detail (and voice) suggests Maul.

Palpatine did say he still had a use for him the last time we saw Maul in the Clone Wars.

^ Yes, that.

So is Clone Wars over, or what? At the end of Season 6, it seemed like there was still more story that needed to be told.

There was a comic released, an adaptation of the 4-part arc that wasn't finished when the show was canceled, it's considered canon:

The show was cancelled, so yes, they had more story planned.
The stuff left unproduced was released as a comic(Darth Maul arc), two arcs as unfinished animatics(Utapau and Bad Batch), and a novel(Ventress arc).

That was a great trailer. I really wish the main Disney Channel would reshow season 2 like they did the first one, but so far I haven't seen it.

We rewatched this entire season on Monday, Disney XD had a marathon. It was a good runup to the new episode tonight.

Good intro for Leia, and I like how it ties into the original film -- "Don't play games with me, Your Highness. You weren't on any mercy mission this time." Good likeness for Carrie Fisher, although I was underwhelmed by the voice performance. The score even seemed to use more cues from the movies than usual, as if Leia's presence gave them permission or something. Although her own theme didn't kick in fully until her conversation with Ezra.

Sounds like Steve Blum used his Toonami Tom voice for the stormtroopers. Clancy Brown used his "Clancy Brown" voice. :)

Kanan made Luke look like a chump at taking out AT-ATs with a saber.

Good realization of Leia. The voice by Julie Dolan was close enough. There were several times when she really sounded like a young Carrie Fisher.

I won't bother critiquing the plot, because there were enough big holes in it to make the asteroid worm in TESB feel at home. Still, I enjoyed it well enough.

This was a great geek-out episode to see young Leia running around before New Hope. It was so cool to see her working as an official Imperial official for the first time. She looked, sounded, and acted about ten years older than Ezra, though. And they're the same age.
I do think the AT-ATs were way too weak in this episode. First of all, I couldn't believe that the Ghost's weapons were powerful enough to get through their armor! These things are supposed to be impregnable! Second of all, you can just slice their legs off with a lightsaber?! Why didn't Luke do that on Hoth? Why don't the Rebels just carry around old lightsabers just in case?

If this show takes place about five years before A New Hope wouldn't Leia be about Ezra's age?
She looked and sounded a lot older than fourteen.

Well, obviously the ones in ESB are upgraded! ;)

Time has progressed a little since the start of the show. It is now suppose to be about three years before Yavin (A New Hope). So Ezra and Leia should be roughly 16. Women go through puberty and mature faster normally than men, so Leia looking and acting older than Ezra is not out of the norm. Also she is a politician and royal, so she needs to act more mature and should have been trained for that, much like Padme acted more mature when putting on her queen makeup at age 14.

However Leia is definitely the same age as Ezra. It was even implied in the episode when Kanan was talking able going through what Ezra has at that age. The look Leia give (that Kanan doesn't notice) shows that she really is that age as well. She just carries herself like she is older.

The Ghost looked like it was firing concussion missiles or proton torpedoes to do that much damage to the walkers. Its lasers were helping, but not too much. Just better than Hoth's artillery defenses and the snowspeeders. But you'd expect a combat freighter to pack more punch than any of those ground and air weapons. They probably could have taken the walkers on Hoth with X-wings or Y-wings, but they were busy escaping with the transports.

Looks like we are going to Concord Dawn next week. More Mandalorians.
