Star Wars Rebels Season Two (spoilers)

I watched it last night, the episode gave me chills as well. I thought Vader was handled, although I wish he would have force choked someone. I think Ashoka is hiding her connection with Vader. I think maybe she thinks Vader killed Anakin. I like that Cader is wondering about Obiwan.

What I found curious about that exchange is that Palpatine said "if he yet lives". I can only assume he doesn't want Vader to get distracted by focusing on Obi Wan.
Perhaps he even feels that Vader going off on such a personal vendetta actually poses a threat to his dominance? Maybe he's concerned the lingering traces of Anakin could be rekindled?

I think it's interesting that the Emperor seems reticent to kick this particular bee hive. I mean he has to know both Kenobi and Yoda are unaccounted for and as the only two surviving members of the council they're his greatest threat (besides Vader or course) and the longer they're out there unchecked, the more they're liable to cause him difficulty.
I know overconfidence in his plans are foresight are well established as his fatal flaw, but he's not *stupid*.

Of course it's also possible that he just think Kenobi is dead, I mean in universe it has been 15 years since Obi-Wan was last seen.

It would also make sense seeing as he had Vader move the Inquisitors from hunting Jedi to hunting young force sensitives to keep them from becoming Jedi, kind of implies that he thinks the major Jedi threats aren't around anymore.

He probably hopes Kenobi and Yoda are dead, but it's not something I think he'd assume without confirmation. Unless we're to credit the notion that he's seriously banking on one of the most powerful Jedi in the galaxy--last seen beating and gravely crippled Sidious's fresh new apprentice, aka *the chosen one*--just dropping dead of his own accord in some freak speeder accident or from a hitherto undiagnosed disease.

No, I think he knows he must be out there somewhere but really want Vader going off on one to hunt him down specifically.

Clearly that's what's on Vader's mind. You could see it in the episode; the second he sensed Ahsoka his whole focus changed. He no longer cared about the Rebel fleet or even Kanan & Ezra. He wanted Ahsoka because she might lead him to Kenobi.

I must have missed it and I cant find anything on a search. No episode yesterday?

I think maybe she thinks Vader killed Anakin.

Well, from a certain point of view... ;)

A certain point of view? ;) (Couldn't resist).

I'm wondering how long it'll be before we see Obi-Wan in the series though. I hope that we do have Ahsoka come across him.
I would be more surprised if we didn't get at least one visit to Tatooine before the end of the series than if we did. I doubt we'll go the whole series without visiting at least one or two familiar planets.

^I'd rather see the show visit Alderaan. We've seen so little of that world, or of Leia's youth. I want to know how she got involved in the Rebellion -- and how she managed to become a senator by age 19.

Yeah, Leia would be a perfect character for Rebels. She's probably the only one of the big three I really want to see show up. Although I think in her case they'd probably have to use a new actress, I don't think there's any way Carrie Fisher's voice could pass as one belonging to a 19 year old.

^ I wonder if they'd use Cat Tabor again for her? At least that's what I think her name was. She voiced her in The Force Unleashed. She also voiced Padme on TCW.

She was the first person to come to mind for me too, although I couldn't remember her name.

I'd always assumed they'd use Taber again too. If nothing else it'd be a nice touch to connect Leia directly to Padme. Mind you, after listening to her play Leia in TFU, I think perhaps her Leia voice is a bit too similar to her Padme voice. Damn near identical in fact.
That said, Witwer's Palpatine seems much closer McDiarmid's, so perhaps Taber--who does have a good range--can up her game a little and make Leia sound closer to Fisher's strange, slightly posh English accent in ANH.

Strange that it never occurred to me until relatively recently, but I think the key to anyone other than Fisher playing Leia is to remember that personality wise, she actually takes after Anakin way more that Luke does. Leia (especially a young Leia) needs to have an aggressive brashness.

Heck, they could probably get away with Obi-wan making an appearace. He had to have found out that Anakin/Vader were the same person somehow. Being told by Ashoka kinda makes sense.

Um, he already knows Vader and Anakin are the same person, Anikan got the Sith name before being roasted by Kenobi.

Obi-wan even watch a hologram of Palpatine refering to Anakin as Lord Vader during Revenge of the Sith.

^ It's sad it isn't 'canon' anymore but the scene in the novel Dark Lord: The Rise of Darth Vader where Obi-Wan learns Vader is alive is really good.

As others have already said, Kenobi already knows. I can however see Ahsoka dropping by his Jutland waste hovel in search of answers. Things like "why are you hiding out near Anakin's only surviving sorta-family?" and "does Bail's kid look a lot like Padme to you?" might also come up. ;)

Yeah, it'd be nice to get more of a sense of Alderanian culture and it's people. Ignoring what's in TOR since it's canon status is dubious at best, all we really know is that they have cities up near mountain peeks, have some semblance of a royal family and have no weapons. Even that last one might not be true since we saw Bail carry a sidearm, fly a clearly armed ship, crewed by a lot of armed people all while leading an armed rebellion. Also, Leia was desperate and would probably say anything.

Only tangentially related, but I'd also like to see the Dantooine base at some point. It could be this "save haven" Hera mentioned, or something they'll be saving for a later season.

Anyone else wonder if "Safe Haven" is going to be Dantooine?

I wonder what they are going to do for Leia's voice. Now, it isn't spoiled or anything that Leia will appear as a character on this show ever, but I really don't think they can tell the story of the birth of the Rebellion without her. The reason I ask is - Vader's voice is fine but some people have bungled panties over it. And JEJ's voice is the same. Now Carrie Fisher on the other hand - she doesn't sound like she used to, decades of age will wear on a voice like that. What's the solution there? Re-cast? Digital de-aging?

And I don't think we will see (nor do we need to see) Han. He's not even really a Rebel at that point in time. But Leia? No question. Mark my words, she will be in Rebels at some point. It would be lovely to see her father/daughter dynamic with Bail Organa as well.

I sincerely hope you're right. She should be a key part of the story.

Well, mostly, but maybe not quite as deep as it used to be. Some people's voices get deeper with age (e.g. William Shatner), others' get higher.

I don't think that's something that could be done digitally. Altering a voice just makes it sound less like a natural voice. You can try adjusting its pitch, but that sounds fake, and it wouldn't deal with roughness or weakness in a voice or a change in performance style. Perhaps, in theory, someone could devise a program to modify a voice to make it sound younger or older, the way they have computer programs to make faces look younger or older. But it would be very complex, and to my knowledge, nobody's developed such a method yet, probably because we're a more visually oriented species so we focus more on how people look than how they sound.

Recasting seems the best solution.

It would be lovely to see her father/daughter dynamic with Bail Organa as well.

Good point -- we've never actually seen that relationship portrayed onscreen. It'd be worthwhile to see how the mantle of leadership of the Rebellion passes from Bail to Leia.
