Star Wars Rebels Season Two (spoilers)

I love how half the YouTube comments are about how she's "not a real fan."

Wait. No I don't love it. In fact, I'm so sick of that shit.

As a general rule it's probably best not to read youtube comments. That way lies madness.

Am I crazy, or is this new character a Mirialan? If so it's a bit confusing since Barris was previously the prime suspect for this character (and SMG does intimate something between her and Ahsoka) and yet this doesn't seem to be Barris. Unless of course those markings aren't actually permanent...

Oh and @1:16, Hera looks so weird without her goggles.

^
Yeah. And you know the last time I watched TPM, I started thinking that he should have had Knightly VO all the Queen's dialog.

Supposedly he even had thoughts about replacing Portman with Knightley in AOTC because supposedly by then she apparently didn't want to do more SW and had become difficult to work with (even more so in ROTS).

I just read on another site that she was supposed to be Mirialan. But it wasn't official or anything, probably just more guessing.

Though, I'm all for more Mirialan. The person did also mention a possible connection to Barriss... though, again, they were probably just guessing.

If SMG person is Mirialan, it's probably just a coincidence.

Within the context of the SW universe, that's a perfectly credible coincidence.

However, in the context of the real world where these details are consciously chosen, it seems like an odd choice to have a force wielding Miralan (a race very rarely used in SW canon) with a (possible) focus on getting Ahsoka.
Especially considering that no less than 50% of all Miralan previously featured (read: one) have a history with Ahsoka that may involve falling to the dark side.
Also, the other 50% just so happens to have already appeared on this show...well, what's left of her anyway.

I suppose my point is that if there's a female Miralan with a grudge against Ahsoka, it's most certainly a deliberate choice by the production crew. Whether or not there really is a direct connection with Barris or this is just a bit of misdirection remains to be seen.

I was kind of hoping 'sister' might refer to the Nightsisters of Dathomir. Well that kind of sucks Leia won't be appearing. I guess it makes a lot of sense that SMG would voice the Inquisifemme... she appears to be the only new female character in any of the S2 previews!

Honestly I think it's way too early to introduce Leia in any meaningful way. They've only just started to open up the scope of the show and already have Vader, Ahsoka & Rex returning. They've only seen Bail twice and none of the other big players for the Alliance; Mon Mothma, Rieekan, Madine, Dodonna, Ackbar etc.

Also, IIRC Bail is referred to by Hera as "Senator", so Leia hasn't taken over his job yet and is probably still back on Alderaan, not running errands for the Rebel spies.

Nice to see there's going to be an increased focus on character development, including at least one episode focusing on Sabine's background. Very encouraging. Also, new information: she's somehow related to Pre Vizsla. Could be blood related, or just associated through clan allegiance, depending on how Mandalorian clans and houses are structured. Either way, just the fact she has the death commando armor pretty much proved from the get-go she had some connection to Death Watch.

Also interesting is that it looks like the old EU interdictor cruisers are now officially canon. I suspect we'll start to see quite a few worth element from the EU find their way into this show.

Looking forward to seeing the B-Wing in action too. It's such a unique and dynamic concept with the gyro rotating cockpit and asymmetrical flying wing shape. One of the few things I felt *should* have been put back in to the special editions was the B-Wing sequence for RotJ. Even with late 90's CG it should have been easy to overcome the technical limitations that forced them to ditch the shots during the original production.

Incidentally that link isn't working for me (probably region locked) so here's the youtube vid.

This show looks fun! I still haven't seen any of it, but the Season 2 trailer has me a lot more interested than anything I saw about Season 1. I'm digging the throwbacks to "The Clone Wars."

Speaking of...

Was that one woman supposed to be Ventress? "Still a bounty hunter, I see?" The voice is totally different, but I can't figure out who else it might be, especially with her familiarity with Ashoka.

I haven't read Dark Disciple yet, but from what Wookiepedia says in Ventress's canon entry that wouldn't be possible.

^Those are actually two separate characters. One is an Inquisitor called The Seventh Sister who may possibly be Barris, but probably not, the other is a new bounty hunter character of whom this is the first we've seen...unless she's Bo-Katan Kryze or something. Either way, probably another Mandalorian.

As for Asajj, she's neither of them because...
...she died towards the end of the Clone Wars.

Barris was actually going to be my next guess.

It just seemed like a weird line to drop in the trailer if it wasn't somebody we already knew.

Hory shet, that trailer looks sweet. Animation seems to have improved. Budget increase, perhaps?

Out of context sure, but when you consider that this new batch of inquisitors has been sent out by Vader specifically because he sensed Ahsoka's presence and thinks she'll lead him to Kenobi, it makes perfect sense.
Sure, Ezra, Kanan and the other spectres would be a nice catch, but Vader *reeeeally* wants Ahsoka and Kenobi. It's personal.

They've upped to episode order to a full season's worth, so probably. Plus, just as was the case with Clone Wars, they get better as they go along. Zero in on the style they want, take bigger risks and (from a budgetary standpoint) accumulate more and more art assets they can re-use so they don't have to build everything from scratch every episode, meaning they can spend the cost around a bit.

Star Wars Comics Find Firm Footing in Prequel-Trilogy Era With Obi-Wan & Anakin Mini-Series Set Between “The Phantom Menace” and “Attack of the Clones”

Flush from the critical and commercial success of the Lando mini-series, Marvel is again turning to Charles Soule to build on the legend of Obi-Wan Kenobi and his apprentice, Anakin Skywalker.

Soule will write the five-issue Star Wars: Obi-Wan & Anakin series that Marco Checchetto — the artist on Shattered Empire — will illustrate. The first issue is due January 2016.
Set between the events of The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones, the story is akin to the classic Lone Wolf and Cub tales (though Anakin, while infantile and 13-years-old in this story, is hardly a baby!)

Announced during Marvel’s “Cup of Joe” panel by the publisher’s chief creative officer Joe Quesada at New York Comic Con on Oct. 10, readers will Obi-Wan and Anakin in a new phase of their relationship as Jedi master and padawan, having grown closer as friends through the training in the previous few years. It’s not been easy, either.

Now, with the pair asked to assist on a remote planet, that relationship faces new challenges, challenges that are likely to go far in providing a deeper context to their relationship.
