Yes, it's absolutely not Q, which is why we're casting Q as an omnipotent trickster's voice.

Clearly it's not Kirk if William Shatner shows up as a captain from the future.

You could also see as as " let's cast an actor who played a famous omnipotent trikster to play the father of TOS's version of an omnipotent trickster . " I don't think it automatically makes a *direct* connection to Q. But rather a nod on how similar those characters are.

Eh, they regrew the fingers.
That seems to be beyond the eras technical capabilities from the original continuity imo.... I'm not really complaining because I think the timeline has been rewritten but TOS medical technology seemed a bit limited, they couldn't even help miramanee.

Well, no. ‘Confirming the fan theory’ would be if we actually saw John DeLancie, and he referred to himself as Q. Just doing a voiceover is more of an Easter Egg than a confirmation.

Exactly. There's isn't something that was actually *said* that confirms it In a way that it would no matter who did the voice.

Voice just by itself is not something you can positively" identify" . Especially in a Star trek university where Kirk's voice can either sound like Shatner or Wesley for example.

One of the columns on TOS’ medical readouts was, no doubt, “Dramatic Potential”.

To play on the fan theories speculating that the Q and Trelane are related? Delance does voice work and it's not a stretch this a inside joke-ish homage. Not necessarily an official cannon "revelation "

The show runners have outright said it's Q and Trelane. Directly referencing the TNG Q-Squared that connected them.

Plus Trelane's costume includes stuff from his TOS costume.

What was Delancie official credit for this role?
There isn't one. The end credits just list his name guest starring with no character.

Which isn't unusual they never seem to credit what characters guest stars play on SNW.

I don't know if you're joking or not, but I can't take you seriously anymore.

Are you saying then it's official as in on Memeoy Alpha? If si, will admit I was wrong. All I'm saying we the fans can make that guess. Maybe even call it an educated guess but I don't think it's official that the Q and Trelane are one in the same. And yeah I'm serious about that and I dont think it's an unreasonable take either.

Ok well than I stand corrected. Nothing specifically that was said on screen made it canon by its own merits but if the showrunners are saying it than there's some substantial weight to it. Simular to Nyota being ( virtually) canon when Roddenberry said it was her first name and official official when it was said on screen.

So I stand corrected.

This was a fun 7/10 episode. It was nice to get to know Roger Corby better, and I liked that he was paired with Spock for much of the episode. John de Lancie's voice cameo was a high point and made so much sense.

On my second re-watch, I noticed you can see Trelane looking through Spock's window at one point, when Chapel leaves his quarters shortly after the beams on the ship
