Disagree. It's in the name. "Star" and "New Worlds" implies space exploration, not exploring deep interpersonal back stories that you can see in any other random show. It's cheap and easy. Character development is one thing but it should be only enough to support the underlying interesting premise of human space exploration. Which is just overlooked constantly and is why a lot of star trek fails. Nobody cares about Picard's inner struggles with his childhood as he tends to his vineyard

- it's boring and has nothing to do with stars or space. So they stop watching. Then the show is cancelled.
So, producers, make more episodes like this one.

Enough of the overdone backstory, childhoods, flashbacks - it's easy to do, but reallllly stupid. Thanks!
