And yet years later she still has feelings for Spock. So makes her also a hypocrite

Wait a second. Since Chapel already knows that things with Spock aren't going anywhere, thanks to Boimler, isn't she making the correct decision? Girl can't sit around forever waiting for a man who isn't actually going to choose to be with her.

Yeah, this does set up one of those paradox things -- if Chapel refuses to accept what she heard, maybe things go some other way. But she didn't, and they won't.

Spock's "I'm the X" was my second favorite but Uhura's solo number was amazing. I'll have that stuck in my head for weeks and hope it's available to stream somewhere. I'd been looking forward to it since hearing it in the teaser.

The Klingon punk rock/boy band was a little too silly and started delving into parody territory but the rest was so good I can forgive. I'm glad this was chalked up to a strange subspace phenomenon and not another alien race trying to communicate through unconventional means.
I was 100% expecting Klingon opera so that just destroyed me when it happened. Perfect choice. lol

I will say, although this wasn't an "Uhura" episode, it was definitely a Celia Rose Gooding episode. I don't really follow Broadway closely, but seeing them perform it was obvious to me that they're the actual "star" of the episode so I was not surprised that they were in Jagged Little Pill for like 4 years. I know that you have to lip sync in a filmed musical (Les Mis is a perfect example of why singing live doesn't make for a better performance for film) but the Uhura song was the only one where I was able to lose myself in the fiction of the episode and not feel like I was watching lip syncing.

Right now, I am so glad that I am less perceptive than you are.

Trust me, after the Lower Decks episode, this was my most anticipated episode so my heart kind of sank when I saw the opening number when I knew my brain wouldn't easily forgive the lip syncing. It probably didn't help that I have been watching live recordings of musicals recently so it's been on my mind. The Gooding performance really blew me away though, and that's when I was able to just lose myself in the episode completely.

Fuck it, I'm giving it a 10. Loved it. We can sit here all day and discuss the... "dumbness" of it but it ended up being fun. Though, they should have done the Klingons with opera instead of the boy-band beat.

And points off the series/season for only doing 10-episode stretches so we never get to re all see the Spock/Chapel ship. They hook-up, go through some turbulence, she gets a 3-month fellowship (?!), they break-up. Huh?

Still not sold on Wesley's Kirk. He's getting "better" I still just don't see Kirk in him. But a good episode with good visuals and harmonics to it. Fantastic.

Will need to.watch again with the CC on.

Makes TWOK even more tragic. I mean based on what Kirk told us in Lost in Translation, his father was career oriented and never got to spend time with his kids but Kirk wasn't even given the chance to be a father to David.
From what I read on Carol Marcus, she unilaterally decided to raise David by herself since Kirk was galavanting around the entire Galaxy on the Enterprise.

So he didn't get a chance to be part of his life because she said nope to that.

E10 will be a real
Kobayashi Maru scenario, with Batel and crew stuck in Gorn space, and Pike under orders not to leave Fed space!

I get the feeling it'll be a "Needs of the many outweighs the needs of the few...or the one." scenario.

Am I the only one who wanted to heart Robert April sing with his beautiful baritone voice?

We didn't even get to hear the good Admiral sing.
Buffy did an episode much later that showed flashbacks throughout Anya’s life.
One of them was to the musical episode.
Since there was no reset button and all the singing definitely happened, there is no reason a future flashback here couldn’t do the same for other characters. Unlikely, but not impossible ;)
