He was repeatedly approaching M'Benga and talking with him knowing M'Benga was someone struggling with the war's impact on him, M'Benga said to leave me alone.

Doesn't give M'Benga the right to grab a knife and stab him. As the writer of the episide said Rah actually was looking for redemption. Yeah he was being a pest but why would he deserve to be killed for that. Let's put the cards on the table here. If the doctor did stab Rah he did it because of the war and knowing what Rah. But he's not supposed to make that decision. I agree with Pike.

I'm sure someone has said this already, but after watching it a second time, it's plain that Rah killed himself.

Oh and 9/10. Great performance by Babs.

If he killed himself why wouldn't M'Benga have mentioned that? Why would he kill himself? It makes no sense .

He specifically unpacked the case to get to the d'k tahg while an unarmed, peaceful, Federation diplomat beseeched him to become an ally.
That's not what happened.

M'Benga opened the case with the knife and stared at it remembering what he had done on J'Gal prior to Rah entering the room. Once Rah entered M'Benga closed the case. Rah then starts with his "nice guy" routine and M'Benga asks him nicely to go away. Rah continues his "nice guy" routine and then we get the confrontation revealing who the Butcher of J'Gal really was and that Rah is a fraud. Rah continues his BS and M'Benga turns around and reopens the case clearly thinking he could just stab Rah with the knife. He doesn't and instead turns around to face Rah. Then they have the scuffle we don't properly see ending with Rah being stabbed.

Either one of them could have grabbed the knife from the open case on the desk.

Until it's stated in the show what actually happen I lean toward Rah grabbing the knife to silence M'Benga for knowing the truth about him. When Chapel walked in they were tug of warring with the knife ending with Rah getting stabbed.

I don't want to make the assumption that you're not a woman, but it's starting to look more and more likely.
Jurisdiction favors certain demographics as far as justification for killing goes.
Anyway, I've decided that it went as reported. Chapel saw it all. It was self-defense. M'Benga did not start the fight, but he's not sorry the other guy is dead.
Yep. Plus, if that's not how it happened, then as far as I'm concerned, that's still how it happened.

Has anyone mentioned that Rah called the Klingon chancellor "him?" That means that either the writers bleeped up or that L'rell isn't the chancellor anymore.

That man would never kill himself. And I don’t even mean that in a good way.
He picked a fight with a former soldier that killed three of his best men at the same time, how in all his experience as a general would he not see what he was doing as suicude?:klingon:

THIS is what Star Trek should engender in its audience. We're talking. We're debating. We're arguing. OVER ETHICAL QUESTIONS.

Most of Gene's Vision™ involved selling his product in Hollywood and making money but he did want his audience to be intellectually stimulated and talk about his stories. We're doing what Trek fans should be doing.

Some deaths and even manslaughter occur in the heat of emotion and you don't realize you've pulled the trigger or plunged the blade until it's all over with.
<cough>
Shit happens.

Arrogance. Chutzpah. Pure, unmitigated gall.
