Why isn’t he in prison? He killed a defenceless Klingon. Pike seems to have some terrible officers on his crew.
An okay episode. I don’t know why they were so close to the front lines. Did seem a bit silly having those explosions so close to them. I also don’t understand why there were children and civilians in the city still. They should have long since evacuated.

The very first Raktajino :D

Aaaand another Clint appearance :D

Maybe they should call it "Spocktajino"

Aaaand, not as many appearances as Combs, but 4 series including TOS is pretty cool.

The pacing didn't work for me with this episode. For long stretches I wondered where the story was going and then it ended a bit abruptly. I did like a lot of the backstory for M'Benga and Chapel, and I liked how the episode touched on how they, along with Ortegas were grappling with their memories of the war. I also liked the new starship.

I wasn't expecting the ending, but after they went there, it just felt like they rushed to the finish. I could see this as a way to (sadly) get M'Benga off the flagship, as well as maybe even demote him.

Though I didn't care much for the Disco Klingon redesigns I think it would've been neat to see them in the flashbacks. I was also hoping to get mentions of more Klingon Houses/characters that we would know about. Perhaps there were and I just didn't hear them mentioned. I also would've liked to have seen some Disco-era Starfleet uniforms, even if on characters in the background.

In sickbay, was the Klingon ambassador crying? I also wished that he had jagged teeth. I did like the facial tattoo.

Ultimately this episode felt undercooked to me.

I liked it, though it may be my least favorite of the season. I'll have to watch it again before I make a rating.

That said, I appreciate the ideas it was putting forward. I can understand both points of view presented and I'm honestly not sure which side of the coin I fall on.

I consider myself a man of peace and that in many cases, people do deserve a second chance. But sometimes, motherfuckers gotta pay.

I appreciate that they are willing to make controversial decisions for the sake of the characters. We saw a side of M'Benga and Chapel that we so rarely see in Trek.

You could feel the divisions between those who fought the Klingons, and those who sat out the war. And no matter how hard anyone tried, if you weren't there, you can never truly understand what they went through.

Good episode.

What a great episode. Here’s the likely reason why M’Benga likely eventually leaves the ship and why Chapel takes that internship. They’re war veterans with PTSD who have been driven to murder and to the cover up of a murder. I don’t condone what M’Benga and Chapel did but it’s certainly understandable. The Federation has slapped a peaceful, happy smiley face over their festering wounds.

Well, that was….intense.

The ramifications of an Ambassador being
knifed in the heart on the flagship of the Federation
are mind-boggling in scope. I don’t see how that isn’t at least a career ender for the entire command structure, not to mention the person who did it. How did this guy not have a 24/7 security detail traveling with him at all times?

I really loved this episode... until the end. I knew there was little time left when the final scene in sickbay occurred, but I thought they were headed toward their first two parter with next episode being
a) did U'MBenga actually kill the Klingon, was it an accident, or did he stab himself to to protect his work/legacy which he saw slipping away (which is where I thought is where they were actually heading.
and
b) the fall out from this ambassador which seems to be mistrusted by those on both sides (the Federation bc of his past and the Klingons because of his present)

but then it just... ended.
