Another time travel episode where only one character knows what happend and again another alternate kirk. No thanks. 5 out of 10.
That's usually how these things work.Another time travel episode where only one character knows what happend and again another alternate kirk. No thanks. 5 out of 10.
Only Guinan had any memory of the alternate timeline events in "Yesterday's Enterprise(TNG)." Trek's been doing this for decades.
That's basically what ENT did, though. The same things that worked in the same way, just named slightly differently. This assumes that photonic torpedoes are exactly the same thing as photon torpedoes.
This like assuming breech loading rifles and M-16 rifles are the same because of the word "rifle".
Similar but not the same. Implied to be precursors. Though polarized hull plating seems different than full on shields. That's basically what ENT did, though. The same things that worked in the same way, just named slightly differently.
"Phase pistols" instead of phasers.
"Polarized hull plating" instead of shields.
"Photonic torpedoes" instead of photon torpedoes.
How did any of those devices function differently within the stories ENT did, though?Similar but not the same. Implied to be precursors. Though polarized hull plating seems different than full on shields.
Same for like named devices in TNG. They function as SF tropes: rayguns, torpedoes and force fields with the occasional handwave about being more advanced. Then you add "quantum" but it makes no real difference. How did any of those devices function differently within the stories ENT did, though?
Hell yes. I find the lack of discipline and self entitlement amongst the modern characters to be soooo frustrating. People are literally dying right now but let's take some time to kiss and talk about our relationship before we go on this dangerous mission.
Does that imply that there was actually an armed conflict between Earth and Vulcan? It's still one of the most "What the hell are you talking about?!?" lines in Star Trek. Crazier than anything Janice Lester even thought about.
That said, Spock getting called for playing his lute too loud was delicious and I have to say I like anytime they are able to underscore the "city in space" aspect of the Enterprise.
Well nothing in previous shows says the Vulcans didn't have transporters in the 20th century. That X-Files type guy who arrested Guinan and Picard in Picard Season 2 recounts a flashback where a Vulcan used a transporter near him when he was a kid, which was dated circa mid 20th century.
Anson had a kid and requested some time off. He has a big role in this week's episode based off the trailers.BTW we are now 3 episodes into our new season - and Pike is still missing in action.
Did it took Anson Mount this long to film his Marvel cameo?
According to Carbon Creek there was going be another Vulcan survey of the system in 20 years. Which could line up with Agent Wells age.Yep. Meaning in that changed history the Vulcans showed up on Earth more than once in the 1950s or 1960s or perhaps the Carbon Creek crash never even happened and that particular incident involving Agent Wells as a child was the Vulcan landing of that era.
The actor got cast on another show. Which has already been cancelled, so maybe he'll be back in Season 3.Also what the heck happened to kyle? Hes gone akesdy.

Wouldn’t she not recognize it bc she’s never seen a Romulan ship in her timeline? They hadn’t been seen in over a century until TOS “Balance of Terror”.Throw off the shackles of the spoiler tags my Trekkies!
I was wondering the same thing.
Why "nope"? I don't really have a dog in this fight in that I'm not ready to cheer "See?!? I TOLD you it had to be another timeline!" or anything. "Alternate timeline" kind of bores me. It was brilliant in '09 because it served a definite purpose but I really don't need to see an alt alt alt timeline. (And "Multiverse" is wearing out it's welcome.)
But we just had a Romulan in the 21st century state that she and her ilk had been messing with Earth's past and acknowledge that the Eugenics Wars were "supposed to" take place in the 1990's and that they don't anymore. That's hard to get away from.
You know, again there was no reason to revisit the Eugenics Wars or Khan. But for whatever reason the writers thought "Hey, we just NEED a descendant of Khan on this ship to properly tell this story." But now not only do we know that the name Noonian Singh is enough to get you teased / bullied / whatever over 200 years later, but we also know that we're currently (right now!) in the lead up to WWIII because of January 6th, 2020 (among other altercations) leading to the Second American Civil War which leads... to.... the... Eugenics Wars?
Honest question: Is genetic manipulation still considered "eugenics"? Isn't eugenics more selective breeding Master Race stuff?
I don't know why this episode has stuck with me over the last couple of days as much as it has. La'an is not my favorite character (or hasn't been). I wasn't thrilled with Wesley's Kirk the last time out. But this was SNW firing on all cylinders. Christina Chong hit it out of the park. They managed to put Kirk a little bit on his back foot keeping La'an as the lead but still giving Kirk enough room to be awesome.
Kirk playing chess is currently the high point of the season for me.
I do wonder why it's a 23rd century Romulan ship doing the time traveling, but I like the fact that Kirk recognizes it but La'an doesn't AND they don't take the time to explain it.
I also loved that the turning point for Kirk helping restore the timeline is not the Fate of the Earth but just Sam.
Maybe I'm bringing all my TOS baggage to the show (which is what they want me to do) but did the music for La'an and Kirk get as close to "Goodnight Sweetheart" as they could without paying royalties? Or maybe just Fred Steiner's music?
I know Anson was busy being a new daddy and all, but we need some Pike in our Pike show!
Dammit. Now I have to wait NINE days between new episodes. Unless Amazon screws up again.
Bet he kinda regrets THAT career move.![]()
And then they wipe her mind.
Well, you see, Quark's Treasure crashed in Roswell in 1947, and that setup an alternate timeline where ENT, DISCO, PIC, LD, and PRO are both canon and non-canon...YOU DONT UNDERSTAND IF THE FAKE WAR DIDNT HAPPEN IN FAKE 1992 THEN MY WHOLE LIFE IS A LIE
I just go with my usually standby, Dr. Manhattan altering the timeline.TNG says the wrong number of Enterprises? Time Traveling Romulan.
Scotty thinks Kirk is still alive after seeing him die? Time Traveling Romulan.
Klingons look all wrong? Time Traveling Romulan.
