On other words, Kirk's history would have been completely different.
They would’ve had identical histories up until a point before Pike was supposed to get dosed with radiation. He seemed to have remained captain longer causing Kirk to never get transferred. Like the Loki from the show, his history is identical to the one who died until he wandered into the Avengers’ time travel shenanigans.

Paul Wesley's Kirk reminds me of Stephen Collins as Wil Decker. He could grow into the role, this was an alternate timeline version as well. My main issue with Wesley I think is his build, and maybe it is just him next to Mount, but he looks tiny. He also has a very different torso shape than Shatner, who was always barrel-chested even at his thinnest.

That plus he has a few Jim Carrey undertones

Pike also never seemed to got his promotion (appointment?) to Fleet Captain.

Probably part of him trying to avoid his fate.

This is the first 10/10 I have given since Trek returned a few years ago. If you would have told me then that it would have involved Kirk and one of my favorite TOS episodes I would have scarcely believed it.

I have been critical of Discovery and some of Picard but this first season has been great.

I think Kirk's history starts changing while he's on the Farragut. He stays with that ship longer than he did in the Prime Timeline.

What’s the canon explanation for that one year everyone turned cartoons?

The canon explanation is... that there will always be a universe full of awesome Star Trek cartoons? <cough>Lower Decks</cough> :) They are adjacent to the universe of Star Trek CG animation... :)

It’s the butterfly effect, Pike never left so Kirk can’t be transferred to the Enterprise.

How long had Kirk been Captain when TOS started? I had assumed that season 1 is year one of the five year mission, but he has an established friendship with Spock. You’d think that would take a little bit of time to develop past being co-workers unless they just immediately vibed with each other.

The other interesting thing with respect to Kirk and the Farragut is that I got the impression La'an was his first officer, yet she's never included in any of the Tactical discussions in the briefing room with Kirk, Pike and Pike's senior staff.

In fact we never see her again in the episode after she steps off the transporter pad.

In Universe does that mean that Kirk at this time really doesn't rely or take suggestions from his executive officer the way he did from Spock in the original Prime Timeline as he commanded the Enterprise?

It’s all the same universe, it’s just in a different medium.

"Where No Man Has Gone Before" is set in 2265, the same year Kirk takes command to begin his legendary five-year mission. So not very long. Perhaps just a few months or just a little bit longer.

I thought he was really good. He’s not Shatner, but I didn’t feel even for one moment like he wasn’t Captain Kirk. Wesley and the writers nailed it as far as I’m concerned.

Unless Kirk spent a good bit of time with Spock before becoming Captain, then this is probably their first meeting.
