So, Future Pike basically played an Endgame Janeway card, right?
Ok, so he was the fighting-est captain who then got shown a horrible future, and is wrestling with the cost of life and death. Sounds like he is still figuring this stuff out, and being extremely reflective, which is demonstrated to be his personality. So, maybe yes to the personality comment. It's a very interesting thing because Pike in DISCO was described as one of the few Federation Captains with serious combat experience and "the fighting-est captain in the fleet" here but here attempts to make peace so poorly by his humanitarian requests that he utterly bumbles the thing.
I'm wondering if the time travel was affecting him or he really did screw the targ here because of his personality.
Una crushing on Pike has been canon for over 50 years since Cage/Menagerie. Despite Batel just "doing her job" I think we can assume that Batel and Pike are officially over now, explaining why she's nowhere to be seen in Menagerie. As for Una, if Pike somehow gets her out of jail, I don't think she'll ever forget that. And she won't ever stop trying to find a cure for Pike in turn, even after he retires to Talos IV. I think Pike's story is no longer going to end at Talos IV now.
He knew about Pike’s accident before it happened, it makes sense that he’d know that Pike managed to avoid it.
This also gives Spock added motivation to help Pike get to Talos. It wasn’t just devotion to his former captain. Pike had spared him from suffering the same fate, he probably felt he owed him some relief from his suffering.
I think this episode ebds the debate on the look of tje ship and uniforms. The uniforns and the ship will not be any closer to TOS. What we see now is how things will look in kirks era. The original TOS era look has now officially been retconned.
I guess we're similar in that I have a religious upbringing, but in Buddhism. For what it's worth I do consider my religious upbringing to be brainwashing, being forced to church by my mother even when I was crying not to go. The repercussions into my adult life well into the present day are too numerous and severe for me to go into here...

Same. The only concern I have is with attachments. But, I started a thread on this.In fact, I have a problem with taking children into combat and think that is a pretty awful thing for Jedi to do. I don't consider Buddhism to be brainwashing, though.
Maybe M'Benga's falsification of medical logs & hiding his child in the transporter buffer catches up with him and StarFleet eventually pulls him from his spot in the future.

I have no issues with religions or religious upbringings. I have navigated that world very well and encourage others to question what they are brought up with to find what works for them. Some might consider that heretical, but given how I interact with religious people on a daily basis it seems to go over well.
Being "the fighting-est captain in the fleet" doesn't mean he wants to start a fight/war whenever possible. It's a very interesting thing because Pike in DISCO was described as one of the few Federation Captains with serious combat experience and "the fighting-est captain in the fleet" here but here attempts to make peace so poorly by his humanitarian requests that he utterly bumbles the thing.
