Curses! Now I have to move again.
I have that look on my face every day.
As a father to two daughters, one who is 7 going on 17 based on attitude....same.

One of my favorite moments of the episode.

Upon a second watching I actually found Ortegas' quips less annoying due to Pike's exasperation to them.
Agreed, I thought it was such a great choice to add his reaction to her. Wasn't needed at all but made for a hilarious moment. I get major father/daughter vibes from their relationship and it's great.I love Lt. Quips, but at this particular moment I felt just like Pike. What a great comedic moment!

Pop the tab on the back and keep them away from strong magnetic fields too.Oh noes! *clutches TOS VHSs to protect them from rewriting!*
You really should stop thinking so literally. If they can retroactively change events, they sure as hell can change styles. As discussed earlier the TMP Enterprise, inside and out, doesn't match the earlier model and sets, and yet no one today is screaming their head off at the break in continuity. There are way too many changes in visual, story and character canon. It really doesn't fit well anymore.
Why bring TNG from 1987 into the discussion? There are way too many changes in visual, story and character canon. It really doesn't fit well anymore.

Some TOS technologies are obsolete compared to today. You really want them to make the future of today's fiction look dated right now?Well I will say that TNG seems less advanced at times the STD or SNW. The transporter comes to mind. But it can still squeak by.

For me, she's somehow so much more quippy and smirky than Tom Paris, but soooo much less annoying. Tom's jabs always felt really forced.
Very obsolete. The limited functioning of the computers, the very slow processing speed, and the limited storage of data all spring immediately to mind. Just watch Spock fake orders and audio to the Enterprise in the "Menagerie." Then look at Deep Fake audio tech today. Some TOS technologies are obsolete compared to today. Now, excuse me, I need to go back up my laptop to a floppy disk.
I love Lt. Quips at first she had too much of Gen Y/Z vibe going on (and still kinda does) but it's starting to click with me. Her snarky moments sort of seem to be her mechanism to cope with stress. (And when we get her focus episode with her tragic backstory/character-defining moment we'll learn how and why.)
I mean the Enterprise doesn't even look like it did in Discovery. The corridors and crew quarters are radically different. They could easily be changed again.
