Count me as someone who noticed the dummy but it actually made me laugh more than anything else. Feels like something they would have done on TOS. I wonder if we will next see a fist fight were we can clearly see it isn't the actors fighting but the stunt doubles.

Not really. Based on your standards, technically, the NX class ship should not exist, based on TMP.

Does it really matter? Archer ignored the XCV-330 Enterprise on his wall. Even though it appears on the wall of the 602 Club in his time.

Trek always forgets some of the important Enterprises. The TNG observation room wall was missing two aircraft carriers, the ringship and the NX-01.

I think the idea there is that only Federation history matters. And ships like the NX-01 predate Federation history. The goal is to promote some type of Federation pan-nationalism, and focusing on vessels that predate the Federation distract from that.

You can't make any consistency because there are too many cooks in the kitchen messing with the StarDate increments.

https://memory-alpha.fandom.com/wiki/Stardate

The only consistentency is that the First 3 Digits Left of the Decimal Point seems to indicate which 'Day of the Year' AKA "Star Day"

Any Digits Left of the First 3 Digits past the Decimal Point indicates the Star Year.

But the Star year getting bunched up with the Star Date is hard to read and pronouncing it is a PITA (Pain In The Arse).

Look at DISCO's StarDate 3190 AD = 865 783.7
Look at VOY's __ StarDate 2379 AD = _ 56 947.0

3190 AD - 2379 AD = 811 Year difference
StarYear 865-56 = 809 Year difference.

You can argue that Leap Year is screwing with things, but to be off by 2 years because of leap years in 800+ year time frame? I find that hard to believe.

As for readibility, it's a Cluster Eff of digit soup.
In my Head Canon, the ISO StarDate Version is updated to 5.0 to account for the differences that I introduce.

±S.Y / SDU ¦ STU = (±Star Year / Star Day Unit ¦ Star Time Unit)
The “/” is described as “Slash” & “¦” is described as “Bar” which is short hand for (Vertical Broken Bar)

I set the Starting Point for 0 of the StarDate to be:
Earth Date = 2155/03-05 Wed 00:00;00.0 PST = Founding of Coalition of Planets

The UFP formed from Jonathon Archer's founding of the "Coalition of Planets" and the day it was signed into existence.

Ergo, my Star Year can have ± to indicate Before or After the "Official Starting Point" that led to the Founding of the UFP, the signing of the "Coalition of Planets".
+ = After Federation: After the UFP was formed/founded
- = Before Federation: Before the UFP was formed/founded

If that works for you.

I’d prefer to think that the Stardate system came about when the Federation was formed as a comprised from the founding members when recording dates. As the human, Vulcan, Andorian and Tellarite calendars - and all of their colonies - are all different from one another.

Hmm, you must have sold me the third Kelvinverse movie...
Honestly, Beyond was the movie that won me over to NuTrek in general and that gave me faith that the new generation of creators would "get" Trek (even if they weren't doing it the way my fanfics would do it). Between that movie and the first season of DSC (and all the shows since), I've been far more at peace with and gotten far more enjoyment out of NuTrek than I ever thought I would in my "hater" days (I have never been fond of the first two reboot films, STID especially).

I've never looked back. SNW is just the icing on the cake for me, b/c I've also always been curious about what a Captain Pike show would look like, and this is an amazing take on the concept.

I for one, liked it a lot.

Not perfect. Had some holes.

Hard for me to believe Starfleet could not determine Una was an augment/Illyrian. Seems like they knew & covered it up, hence all the classification of the files.

Ditto Khan. Could it not be true that the things ye did during TWOK are considered massacres? I kean, he did massacre the folks on the science station, right?

I thought the moral about not trying to change yourself to mold to the "norm" was powerful and right on the money.

Just watched this episode. Best so far I thought. I really like Hemmer a lot.

I'm still not 100% won over, but I do think this is a good show. A good show on it's own terms. It's Star Trek I could watch with my wife without having to explain what a million callbacks mean.

It's a West African accent it seems but I don't have too much trouble following what his character says.
It's not that much about the accent but about the hoarseness, like he has a bad cold

In a way they went in the opposite direction of noncorporeal life-forms like the Organians. They evolved into beings of energy. The Illyrians devolved and lost their bodies by pure accident.
How can removing genetic upgrades turn you into an energy being? The ultimate upgrade? You get the best upgrade when you downgrade? :D:shrug:

Who or what were those storm aliens were never revealed. Neither they had any substantial contribution to the plot. Yes, they saved Pike and Spock, but that entire sequence could have beem removed without impacting the story. I don't like such loose ends which seem to exist just for effect.
They were more interesting than other parts of the story, but left without further details - maybe another episode tells us more about them

I still think she should have stayed where she was. The idea of a lockdown is to stop people interacting with each other
During our own lockdown, people were still allowed and supposed to go to work and back home if their work was considered essential, like bridge duty

I wish that search site someone made for it still existed.

Replace engage with whatever you're looking for ;)
