The Instagram pics certainly look like they made an effort to redress the SNW bridge. But then why give the CGI model a SNW bridge module if the ship was supposed to be from the 31st century?

Well considering the comic figures were wearing TOS uniforms I wonder if originally it was intended to be an older ship.

Considering the computer essentially accepted the comics as historical documents, I would chalk the date given down as an error.

They produce the show in Canada. Much of the time they are shooting the show, they are living in Canada. The Picard sets you speak of are either currently in storage or are still on tour. Getting them back and/or putting them up would cost money. The producers have also said that we’d be surprised at how low the budget is on the show. And yes, I knew they were the sets from SNW as well. And you know what? Again, there is a long history of painfully obvious reuse of sets from one production in another in Star Trek. Complaining about it is just finding something to whine about.

Besides, if they did what you wanted, then you’d just whine that they were reusing Picard sets.
Plus, I think there are certain tax incentives towards filming in Canada versus the US, so there is nothing budgetarily simple about hopping countries for a single episode just to shoot a single interior set.

Any line producer worth their salt would laugh you out of the building if you submitted that idea in a script draft.

A sad episode. I also didn't think the sex scene was necessary.

And I think it was. And I will tell you why: in the case of RIker and Troi, it was hinted in the past, that their deep connection has sexual roots. They have built upon this, to explain why Tarima can access Caleb's mind, and also I think Tarima did her psychonic attack against the Furies through Caleb ...So they had to plant this, before use it. It wouldn't have been the same effect to explain off screen.

Also, this is my first 10/10 episode of Starfleet Academy, and I was not thinking I will have 10/10 episodes in this series. It was tense, the Braka/Nhale scene gave me chills. It was amazing.

I explained why they should use the D sets. Why would I whine anout it when i just explainedit previously. Maybe you should read my whole response. Youre whining about things you think I didnt say. Pay attention.

I was absolutely right early yesterday that I was worried they would use the snw sets again because again they were encountering an old stsrship in the 32nd century that just happens again to be from the STD and SNW version of the 23rd.

They built new sets and bridges all the time on tng. This show is spending just as much per episode or more. They could easily have constructed something.

It's stated in episode 1 that he is a Klingon/Tellarite hybrid

Klingon-Tellerite

It might have been an interesting use case to make up some Tellarite culture since it seems like he doesn't care about being Klingon at all

I get why an alien 1000 years from now would be way into Julie Andrews because she's awesome, so nothing against his taste, but being into 20th century American musical theatre is certainly a niche hobby to develop. lol

He seems to be quite irritated with her but mentioned they escaped the prison planet together.
Yeah, presumably their relationship why he was able to intercept Caleb's message as well. I never did consider her to be the one behind it all... which I suppose would be a similar "lie" told to the audience that was told to Jay-Den when his father "abandons" him, if they are trying to build a season-long theme.

It begs the question, we don't know for sure she's actually his Mom
Would be something if she kidnapped some kid from a Federation/Starfleet family and it turns out that all of Caleb's hate was misdirected...

Except the Academy instructors implicitly didn't want the cadets in actual danger.

Because... Reasons!

A holodeck isn't a videogame.

It's able to perfectly duplicate the real world.
I guess there's something to be said about testing in the "real world" - the Holodeck probably wouldn't have created an alien race immune to phasers invading the ship for salvage anyway. lol

But it's a weirdly elaborate set up for a class. Also a bit morbid, even if they may have recovered all the bodies.

But TNG didn't spend the budget of a small country building the biggest set in North America, so they had money to afford it.

Given we all seem to be in agreement that Momma Mir is cahoots with Braka, was having a kid in tow just a useful asset. It will be even more of a betrayal when she turns up in the finale (Momma Mir: Here We Go Again?)

Well in a future where you can clone warrior super soldiers, if not yourself, it's certainly very curious.

Or maybe it's a reverse Andor where she killed his parents and decided to keep him out of some sentimentality and train him to be evil too. lol

As I and others have stated, it would be cost-prohibitive to get the sets you wanted and it wouldn’t make sense based on the story.

Great! Would you like a cookie? Also, the Miyazaki was a 31st century ship. It was stated in the dialogue that it was 100 years old.

I think you need to go back and look at the sets again with less rose-colored glasses. They redressed and reused sets on TNG a lot.

Holy shit what a mess of an episode.

It's pretty big and strong ship. I did not get the impression that it barely survived, and they were not in danger anymore. They would have had no problem getting the escape pod back.

It also had just gotten a bunch of reinforcements who could handle it themselves. They just didn't.

Is this the first episode of the show to stream in Dolby Atmos? I could swear that the first five episodes streamt in Dolby Digital 5.1 only, eventhough they also are available in Atmos now. Discovery and Strange New Worlds also didn't have Atmos, not on Streaming or physical.
