I finally watched this today, and I really enjoyed it.
It was fun getting to see more of the Protostar, and getting to see more of Holo Janeway. The vehicle replicator was a pretty cool new addition to a Starfleet ship, and could be useful given how often the shuttles crash or are destroyed.
Dal's refusal to ask Janeway for help was a little annoying, but he is a cocky kid, so it isn't totally outrageous for him to act that way. I gave it an 8.

It’s cute. I love the animation. It’s so colorful and has a nice energy to it. The storyline so far is ok. The characters are likable. My kids seem to enjoy it. We’ve made a point of having Thursday night be “Prodigy family night” like we did with The Mandalorian on Fridays. That in itself is cool.

Good times.

7/10.
A lot of this show depends on the characters. I wouldn't say Dal's egotistical attempt to blindly fake his way through captaincy is entirely out of character, here -- but it's a lot more grating when there are other lives than his own at stake. And given how much of the episode is shaped by this, I found myself kinda gritting my teeth. That said, everything else here works.

It's not propaganda if it's true.

Or, to rephrase: Janeway's "propaganda" about the Federation is infinitely more tolerable than Dal's propaganda about being an immature little twerp.

The most effective lies are the ones that are mostly true. In fact, it's even more effective if you only say true things while omitting some important detail, or give disproportionate importance to some parts while minimizing others.

IOW, you can propagandize without saying a single outright lie.

Any particular reason you think the Federation is so evil now?
