Is it wrong that when I look at this new poster I think "TNG collector's plate"?

That has always been Trek's way. Any discrepancies get brushed aside in favor of the new matrix.
Indeed. It goes back to Roddenberry wiping some TOS canon off the map with TNG and then declaring that whatever is new is now canon. The only difference now is that both fans and showrunners have social media to complain about it, making studio interference seem like a modern thing when it's absolutely not. I suspect that PIC had about as much interference as TNG did in its first two seasons, if not even more.

1) Twitter is a tiny number of people
2) Twitter isn't representative (actual popular shows like Yellowstone aren't a thing there)
3) Twitter has managed to make actual changes -- the grassroots "Synder Cut" of the batman movie seems to have been mainly a campaign run by Snyder.
4) The lazy "journalism" of throwing a few tweets together as a "news" story and amplifies this
5) Some network execs think that twitter is representative and thus respond to things on twitter
They acknowledge that sometime social media pressure makes good things happen (Sonic changing from the trailer), but other times it is awful (Star Wars episode 9)

I like the new Picard poster for season 3.I'd like to have that as a poster . I hope season the 3 story arcs for the TNG characters will be good. I'm looking forward to seeing Gates McFadden return as Beverly Crusher. I'm curious about the next season 3 preview Terry Matalas keeps mentioning that's coming out soon.

In the trailer, Lore is wearing a SF (ish?) gold and black type getup. Dissimilar to Geordi's, but Geordi is a Commodore, so there would be some differences.
Maybe Section 31 rebuilt Lore and is using him as an asset of some kind? That would probably mean a black uniform instead of gold, but who else would put that maniac back together?
