Spoilers Star Trek: Picard General Discussion Thread

I just saw that Jeri Ryan is joining the Tony Hillerman Mystery Series Dark Winds on AMC as the femme Fatale role Rosemary Vines for season 2. I just saw the preview on Youtube . It looks really interesting.

Does this mean she is not getting her spin-off? Terry Matalas killing her off? Terry Farrel got a similar role in Becker when they killed Jadzia Dax off.

It took THREE YEARS to bring Strange New Worlds to the airwaves.

This is a marathon, not a sprint. This is going to take two years at a minimum.

Jeri's new role reminded me of Mae:

I’m sure others in the Picard cast will be appearing in other TV shows too, it doesn’t mean their characters are being killed off.

Seriously. Plus you've got to keep in mind that streaming is a different beast than network TV was. Streaming seasons are short, and Dark Winds' seasons are even shorter than PIC's - six episodes per. That's not close to a full year's work for an actor. If there's more 25th century Trek on the horizon, this is not going to keep Jeri Ryan away from it.

Yeah, IF there is a Seven of Nine show we are years away. And it’s likely that a Seven show wouldn’t even be the next Trek show they make/greenlight.

Kurtzman keeps teasing a Starfleet Academy Show and apparently still thinks they can do Section 31.

I'm starting to think they've begun changing their tune about whether or not PIC Season 3 will definitely be the last season because they haven't been able to get another show ready for actual production. Which would leave them down a series.

But given how short the seasons of series are these days, it's possible for Jeri Ryan to juggle two at a time. They just can't have conflicting shooting schedules.

I think Prodigy is now filling the role that SFA would've had.

I can't see them doing Picard S4 (Paramount had to carry Sir Patrick over the Finish line to complete Picard).

IIRC, Dark Winds is only lasting three seasons.

It's an intimate art piece. It has a set beginning, middle, and end.

AMC has pulled out all the stops on DW. They've gone to great lengths to be culturally sensitive (They have members of the Navajo Nation on BOTH sides of the camera. :techman: :) )
