Exactly my thoughts. The mobile emitter in this episode is a mobile version of the holographic communicator showing a communication from Raffi. Not necessarily.
A generic description.
Processing power and storage.
The EMH is Huge.
The Raffi program is probably tiny.
She does less stuff, for less time.

From MA:
except that they had, as stated in multiple interviews. And after all odo is a knockoff in many way of the T-1000 (again, as stated in interviews and they even used the movie to prove it was doable) and in that movie they definitely stated shapeshifters can’t do complex machinery.
such as when? We never see odo’s communicator becoming goo.
Maybe you’re again making up stuff to justify your pet theory that has no basis and has been contradicted by the show runners decades ago.
But Odo always wanted to discover more about his people, not to pass as a solid. Initially, at least, he feels superior to solids anyway.
surprisingly?
Random thought since Shaw mentioned the thing. Whatever happened to the Enterprise D's saucer section? It's not something that they're going to just leave on Veridian 3 for the inhabitants of Veridian 4 to discover down the line. If it was recovered from the planets surface, where would it be now? Perhaps the fleet museum that Geordi is in command of? The bridge was still largely intact and that ship has got to be considered one of historical importance.
Well, you have your pet theory with no evidence and going agains the showrunners’ statements, keep it then, I’m not going to argue any further.
But the prime directive would dictate that they remove all evidence of their ever having been there. Even if they destroyed it, they would have to remove the debris. Anyway, this is just a tangent and a random thought. They probably destroyed it like they did the shuttle that crashed in "skin of evil" so armus couldn't get away.

It's almost certainly in the fleet museum and they're almost certainly going to visit it this season. 99.99999999% sure.Random thought since Shaw mentioned the thing. I just noticed we had a roundabout mention of The Doctor with the mobile emitter being recreated with "current" tech and seemingly being a well known thing.
surprisingly?
I have a head canon for Odo's inaccuracy. While I don't think he's got a psychological block, because the female changeling also had the same 'fuzzy face' if you will, Odo has said that imitating the exact features of a human face is difficult..
IIRC The female changeling said she took a face similar to his to make him more comfortable.I think the fuzzy face is just Founder Default setting number one in the character creation options. Or they simply copied it from Odo for a variety of fairly obvious reasons.
Matalas says there is a reason for that, so I'm going to wait til the end of the season to judge.
Pretty sure we just got the reason in this episode.Showrunner said on twitter there's a reason they look different
I think that was to allow him to move about better. Or script wise, give the bad guys something to hit.Looked like it might be the same one Holo-Elnor was wearing last season, despite apparently being projected by the ship. Production issues!

Pretty sure we just got the reason in this episode.
So the audience knows who that is.Then why does she look like that always, even if he isn't there?
