That's exactly what I was talking about.
Dozens of hours, is a stretch, but they can shoot different takes to take twice as long or half as long as the script suggests it should take, and there's three cameras following all of it, so there's several different versions of each scene that can be left as a whole or spliced together with other takes.

Weird. It was only 38 minutes and change when I watched it earlier this evening on Paramount Plus.
38:51 on P+ and that includes scenes from last week, the title sequence, and credits. Is there an extra scene on Amazon??

Probably an exception somewhere for if you have a total runtime that averages 40 minutes per episode.
It is disappointing that each episode seems to be getting shorter.
If you're going to spend millions per week give us more content. Because some of these episodes look like an NCIS with alien technology as a subplot.

After episode 4 I was getting very disappointed with this season so now I'm just checking in for a spoilers to see if it sounds like it's getting any better. Domestic abuse? Time travel? I guess I'll be back here next week to do the same thing. I was really hoping it with only 10 episodes each episode would actually move the plot along. At any rate I'm really looking forward to season 3
I'm higher on this season than you are, but the last two episodes have been more of the same. Though the Jurati/Borg Queen stuff is making the episodes better than they otherwise would be.
That running time includes all the post-ep translation credits. The actual episode ends at 38m57s
And kinda crossed the event horizon with this iteration. Soongs in general are suspect, but this one slides into frame from atop of a pile of dead children. If he lives to the end of the season, I'm going to be cross.
Other than Arik and Lore, what other evil Soongs are there?
To pick but two examples, Trek has featured humans engaging in racially-motivated mass murder (TUC) and attempted genocide by biological warfare (DS9). Those are pushing the boundaries, but domestic violence is a bridge too far?
Not to mention that even when Gene was around, there was a whole colony for the criminally insane, where they were brainwashed. That’s Gene’s evolved humans for you.
