The only Shatnerverse novel I bothered with was The Ashes of Eden, which I thought would've made for a good Star Trek VII with the TOS Cast if they'd done one in the mid-'90s.

Though I'm glad they didn't because I liked seeing the Enterprise-A at the Musuem in Picard Season 3. And how many one-last-adventures can you have? Don't answer that.

If the reforms didn't stick and the Empire fell because of them, no wonder history remember Spock as trying to reform the Empire instead of succeeding.
I like the novelverse plot. Spock set out reforms knowing it was the best way to destroy the empire under human rule and give them a taste of their own medicine, knowing it would result in an eventual democracy. He played the long game and won.

One more time...all together now, 'I'll take you home again, Kathleen'

And a lot of the Shatnerverse Mirror Universe lore was crap.
They had some nice ideas but it turned out to be extremely contradictory…That trilogy was actually supposed to be two books that were split in three by the publisher pretty much with an axe and I suspect that they were also quite rushed.

the first trilogy is quite enjoyable. The next six were also pretty fun even if they had a lot of issues. Then there is the orphaned first book of a would be prequel trilogy that seems to be set in yet another universe, as it’s in direct contradiction with the other books, and I don’t remember much if more there.

Good thought - basically we're just taking the existing retcon of the Enterprise's appearance from "The Cage" and extending that to use of stock footage from that episode used in "Mirror, Mirror". Works for me! Though it doesn't explain the interiors..
One of the first things prime Kirk remarks on after arriving onto the mirror Enterprise is that it looks different inside.
Obviously at the time he was presumably referring to the Terran iconography, but in light of modern pike-era retcons, it’s fun to entertain the idea that he perceived more differences as well.

I don't like what DSC has done with the Terran Empire logo. I much prefer the one from TOS, the simple "Earth with a sword through it" design.

I suppose each Emperor changes the logo to suit their own whims..

And don't even get me started on the uniforms. The Imperial uniforms from DSC were almost ridiculously camp and over-the-top. (I guess that suited Georgiou's style. ) Her successor as Emperor probably preferred the less gaudy ones we saw in "Mirror, Mirror".

The ISS Enterprise in this episode actually makes more sense than Pike's Discoprise itself.

The Defiant from TOS was hurled back to the Archer-era of the Mirror universe.

This gave them a century's worth of a head start and made the Terran Empire much stronger...so by the time ISS Enterprise was built, it had the more advanced SNW look.

Not quite refit-A advanced (no willing non-Earthlings wanted to help of course) but pointing in that direction.

Sort of like how Narada's trip to the past sparked the Abrams timeline.

The DC comics issue where the 1701-A towed Defiant home could have prevented this ISS ENTERPRISE...but Defiant's recovery by the evil Archer erased the existence of the slightly less advanced TOS era ISS ENTERPRISE from "Mirror Mirror," and it's whole timeline to boot.

Literally mirroring Earth and turning the prime delta around was just stupid.
I like the uniforms though, lot of bling :D

possible spoilers for Section 31 movie
With Rachel Garrett in the Section 31 movie and Mirror Georgiou a prominent part of it, it's hard not to think this ISS Enterprise voyage of Mirror refugees won't factor into the movie somehow. The timeframe fits.

Huh?

What could Rachel Garrett possibly have to do with the S31 movie? We all know Section 31 doesn't have anything to do with the Enterprise-C's fate.

Guess we'llhave to watch it to find out.
Yeah, the streaming era Terran Empire logo may be THE dumbest thing in modern Trek - period. I'm sure someone thought that logo was clever.

It's not.
How?

It's a logo, not a statement.

There was a high-backed chair? I need to look for pictures.

???
According to the plaque in this episode, the stardate for when ISS Enterprise left the Mirror Universe corresponds with the year 2355. The character you mentioned died in the year 2344.

You haven't been keeping up with the news have you? That character's involvement with the Section 31 movie was officially announced over a month ago.
