Starczynski wrote every single ep of Babyon 5. That's a ton of work. I believe he pretty much completed it before he even pitched it to Paramount. it was probably all written in the 80s.

Wrote every word, hardly!

The truth Straczynski didn't want you to see … his Asian sweatshop of TV writers:

Some of them as young as 12 (which explains the series juvenile sensibilities).

This was surprisingly better than last week's episode. I really loved all of Pike down on Boreth. I have been bored by the Klingons since The Next Generation, so I always appreciate when they manage to present Klingons who live outside the norm and are not all about war, honor or violence. They did a great job of portraying Boreth as this mystical place. I'm less sure what I think about the whole time crystal thing (honestly, I think the cheesy name is what I don't like about it), but at least they used it to good effect in this episode.

Anson Mount did such a good job in this episode. The horror in his face when he was shown his fate was pretty moving. This was also easily Ken Mitchell's most powerful outing as a Klingon thus far and I'm glad they continue to rehire him. Love what they did with his makeup and costume and that he's L'rell's and Ash's son all grown up. This should lay to rest the popular theory that he becomes the Albino, no?

Wooow one of the hosts for TrekYards, Captain Foley, felt that Reno being gay was too much.

His words "why couldn't she have been straight?"

And then goes on to say "I'm not homophobic"

Yeah right. I stopped watching after that.
 Why won't these assholes just go away?

Dialogue of the week: "The present is a veil between the past... and horror. Lift the veil, and madness can ensue".
I read that as the Control Voice from the original Outer Limits.

Eh, I think some of the relationships have been done well. The O'Brien's were a pretty realistic depiction of what being married with kids looks like. I also didn't mind Sisko's relationship with Kasidy in DS9, or Paris/Torres in DS9. Really Trek is good at showing stable relationships which are past the "passionate" phase and have settled into domestic tedium.
I agree on all of those. I always thought and still think the Keiko/Miles relationship is the most realistic portrayal of a long-term relationship on Star Trek.

I see a few people continuing to mention Airiam's memories, but they may have missed those were specifically shown being deleted in the beginning of "The Red Angel"
No, they only deleted everything that was on Airiam herself. She uploaded all of her memories (and I guess part of her personality?) onto Discovery's hard drives before beaming over to the Section 31 station.

I'm kinda bored with the idea of just pushing things into the future. Photon torpedoes aren't powerful enough? Let's make them Quantum Cutting Edge PROTON torpedoes with 92 launchers. Phasers not good enough with 72 emitters on the ship? Let's make them Plazers! Shields don't work against these enemies? Let's make ships have hull plating AND seven layers of adaptive mutating shields that also slice, dice and make julieanne fries. Instead of 42 decks on the Enterprise-D, it needs to have SEVENTY decks! Warp 9.95 isn't good enough? Now they can go Warp a gazillion. (And yes, I get with the spore drive is kinda the same thing. Not a HUGE fan of that either.)

I mean, okay, but at the same time, the ship will still get outgunned. The shields will still fall to [insert prcentage here]. They'll still be smaller than the baddie. And the ship will still move at the speed of the plot.

Its just silly.
Essentially my thinking as well. Going into the future of the future doesn't automatically make it better or easier to write for.

No, we see them deleting Airiam's memories from the ship's computer during the funeral scene in the following episode.

That's not how I interpreted what we were shown in “The Red Angel”. They specifically showed Airiam's dead body being dismantled and her skull being opened when the screen right behind her flickered through all of her memories, ending with the last one Tilly had just sent her and which was the last thing she saw when she died.

Is that top line supposed to make sense, or a Freudian Auto-correct?

If lot of things get dropped or retconnect "all the time" then doing so is the standard not the exception.
Read it “...throughout the universe.”

It is if you wanna impress nerd girls at San Diego Comic-Con.
Wow...
I don't why, but that just reminded me of an encounter way back in the early 80's I had with a college sophomore coed.
I met her at a four day Trek-Con in Boston and we ended up spending the weekend sharing a hotel room. (bed)

Anyway,
Her "Thing" was rather unusual in a very Nerdy and Specific kinda way...
She wanted me to keep my glasses on, as well as wear black socks and tighty-whites while we were pursing rapture.
I was so enamored with her (she was a Redheaded, Irish Lass - my downfall), that I rushed out Friday afternoon and acquired the necessary items.
(I've been a 'commando' kinda guy sine I was about 13, only wore white socks and even then only when necessary)

By the weekends end, the assorted clothing items and a few raincoats' had been well worn.
(and I had also introduced her to some of my more unusual proclivities in the bedroom)

I just can't help but love this "the customer is always right" mindset... I've paid a minuscule amount of money for this product, therefore its creator absolutely must cater to my every whim about it. How delusional can people get, really? If $6 per month was enough to make the show completely to my liking, it would be called The Tilly Show and I don't think it would be too popular.
I'd watch it.

“Greatest threat” as in the entire universe should be falling apart, not greatest threat as in Borg. It’s greatest threat as in “anyone who uses warp speed even once changes the entire universe”-level threat.
Warp speed was regarded as that as well. Picard was a threat to the entirety of humanity due to the machinations of Q. "Greatest threat" is something that Trek has traded in for years.
That’s your choice. But Trek’s claim to fame is that it was more scientific than what came before it, and it’s most interesting when it does good drama with a ring of scientific plausibility. That’s what sci-fi is, as opposed to Fantasy. Infinity gems are fantasy. Hell, even there, there’s, what, one of them? (Time gem). Time Crystals are countless, presumably found theology the universe.
That claim to fame went out a long time ago. Star Trek has become closer to space fantasy than most fans want to admit because then you cannot throw around the fact that Star Trek has inspired people to become astronauts or whatnot as part of its elite pedigree.
No. Lots of things get dropped or retconned all the time.
Well, then, that takes care of the spore drive and time crystals.

You're missing the point. It isn't that there is a new baddie intro'd this season. It's that the entire universe doesn't make any sense with this threat in it.

That claim to fame went out a long time ago.
To the extent that that's accurate, it's because of fans like those in this thread being okay with it. To the extent that that's not accurate, it's because still other fans in this thread are not okay with it. Trek at least tries to be more Sci-Fi than Fantasy, and like anything, can ebb and flow closer to and further away from either.

Sure it does, if it gets render inaccessible for some reason. Since the story isn't done yet I'll reserve my judgment as to it "not making sense."

And I am OK with the ebb and flow. This happens to lean closer to fantasy, which is OK by me. TMP had a man merging with a machine. How scientific is that? TNG had god-like beings with omnipotent powers over space-time. That's ok as long as we're just told they are advanced aliens, right? DS9 had literal deus ex machina with the Dominion fleet. That's fine though since DS9 was generally a good series. We can forgive that slip-up.

But, DSC introducing new tech? Simply too much...

That claim was halfway out the door in the two pilots when they used telepathy in an alien species and then in humans.

Seems like a pitch is starting to come together... does anybody know how to reach CBS?
Do you think They would be willing to do an updated version of "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice"?
