I'm not convinced that Culber's return was really planned. It was just a lie they made up when people got upset about his death. It would be really terrifying if they actually had planned a resurrection story this stupid from the get go; as a result of a panic asspull it makes sense.
They said that Culber would be coming back the night they killed him off on After Trek.

Yes. Because at that point they had realised that people actually really liked this character they had just meant to be a redshirt, and had realised that they had accidentally written 'bury your gays' trope. All of it had been written and filmed way before the announcement.

I didn't find it any stupider than any other Star Trek resurrection. In fact as those things go, it's one of the better ones. YMMV.

What main characters have died other than Lorca and Culber? Seems to me they're at 50%. And Culber's been scheduled tp return since he died. So it's hardly a surprise.
Georgiou? She died and found a way to bring her back.
They also brought back Tyler, although he never died. We can't get rid of any of them :)

There’s a reason I despise Section 31 and you’re touching on it. It has no place in the future of that humanity, otherwise all we get is another United States, and we sure as hell don’t need another one, but with bigger weapons.
^^^
Psst - Star Trek was originally created primarily for U.S. audiences, and like it or not 'The Federation' is pretty much modeled after the U.S.A. - just saying. ;)

The Federation has an elected President
A 'Council' that seems to be pretty much like the U.S. Congress
^^^
And I say that because we've never seen them talk about the ability to oust said President with a vote of 'no confidence' so it ain't a British style parliamentary system here. It's always been pretty much "The U.S.A. IN SPAAACE!" ;)

Georgiou is still dead. We never met the real Tyler and "Tyler" as mentioned never died/

Oh, I know, it's just I'd rather we not project our massive flaws onto what a better humanity might look like. Plus, right now the U.S. is not a good role model.

Well, they can now join McCoy, Scotty, Checkov, Spock (Search for Spock), Kirk (Generations, Amok Time?), Tasha (off screen + Yesterday's Enterprise), Data (last TNG movie), everyone on TNG (time loop), and nearly everyone on Voyager (Harry Kim time travel from the future)as being brought back in some fashion at least once.

Dr. Gehlen and Wehrner von Braun. ;)
Precisely. :)

If the UFP is a direct-line descendant of the USA they are following in a long and proud tradition of recruiting former enemies for the furtherance of technological advancement and the preservation of safety and security of its citizenry. At all costs.
