I hope they don't go down the road of 'all the Kelpians were wiped out this is why you never heard of them again' which would be short sighted considering the many species which make up the galaxy and the Federation that the franchise mentions once and then never again. After all there were four main races that created the Federation and yet we hardly see them at all except for boring humans dominating the universe. (Yeah I know the audience cannot identity with different races .... ironic huh).Man, that was good! It raises such interesting questions. Does General Order 1 prevent Saru from telling his people the truth about their condition? What would be the consequences of that? I hope they have some good answers before the series end.
I write 'tomato' and you seem to read 'Leningrad'....So you’re saying Tilly wouldn’t enjoy something from Mozart.
No, you were wondering how Tilly would like a song by David Bowie, but now you’ve said that Bowie will be seen as normal as Mozart is today. Millions of people listen to and enjoy Mozart. So where is your beef? Why can’t Tilly like Bowie?I write 'tomato' and you seem to read 'Leningrad'....![]()
Well, both really.True, if you mean the original emotional intent by the composer. I thought you meant being unable to properly replicate the music itself.
Since they have 300 year lifespans, Phlox could still be around.Have we seen a Denobulan yet.
I don't think I have.

Empathy makes it easier for the former, especially if we understand the context surrounding the creation of that composition. Regarding the latter, there’s always going to be some drift. With the digital recordings, though, that limits drift. I hope.Well, both really.
As for the latter, I'm skeptical of that too. I mean take even the best current Beatles cover bands with extremely talented guys playing songs off Revolver and then go listen to Revolver. It's never the same, despite them having the original to listen to. Heck even compare them doing Eleanor Rigby to a current live performance of Paul's.
I had a 200 year old song as my favorite song. Your whole premise is incorrect. No I wrote I did not accept that Tilly would have a 300 year old song as her favourite song whether it was David Bowie or Chuck Berry is irrelevant
See above
And out of the millions of 20 and 30 something year olds you are representative because......?I had a 200 year old song as my favorite song. Your whole premise is incorrect.
Because you made no exception. And you are representative because......?
Of all the things people have found 'lacking' with DISCOVERY, this is really the pettiest of them all.No I wrote I did not accept that Tilly would have a 300 year old song as her favourite song (whether it was David Bowie or Chuck Berry is irrelevant)

I so agree, treat it like TMP, the tech was always part of the 23rd century.
What next, another reason why female captains exist in Starfleet, why Starfleet is not called the UESPA anymore? Stop giving in universe reasons for production design changes.
How many present day 20 something year old humans have a 300 year old song as their favourite? That scene was too corny
However I give it an 8.5, love Linus, more of him please! The Babel scene was funny, Reno and Stamets mutual hate fest- thumbs up! Finally that scene between Saru and Burnham, there was no dry eye in my house. The Tilly situation, well they had to come up with a way to end spore hopping so its as good as any.
You are a member of a site where people discuss the minutest details of a 50 year old sci fi franchise...yeah I'm very pettyOf all the things people have found 'lacking' with DISCOVERY, this is really the pettiest of them all.
Isn't is a shame that you can't jump a couple of centuries into the future and come back to tell us exactly how music will be remembered.
Makes for a really inane stance to take about the show.

AH, but then you really didn't want to let it go, multiple posts later, did you?^
This is my original post, one throwaway comment line out of 10 lines ...yeah very petty
How do you know music in the 23rd century won't sound a lot like songs that are 300 years old?I want to hear what 23rd century music sounds like. Not boring songs that are 300 years old.
