Pike definitely handled these humans a lot differently than Archer did the humans and Skagarans that Enterprise NX-01 encountered inside the Delphic Expanse over a century before DSC. No Prime Directive, no firm rules about how to handle any species without warp capability and only T'Pol and Phlox to give advice about what not to do.
Back in the good old days. I was reminded of the episode, the communicator.

To this day we still don’t know what caused World War III. Probably just escalating tensions with certain countries.

The most we know is that it was some sort of East-West confrontation involving North American and European powers and Asian countries organized into what Picard and Lily Sloan called the Eastern Coalition(ECON). Colonel Green may well have been involved as he survived the war and was recorded giving a speech about casting out the crippled, sick and "impure" who had suffered radiation sickness and other injuries as a result of the war.

Some people have tried to retcon the Eugenics Wars as being part of World War III or the actual war itself because of Spock's lines in TOS that the Eugenics Wars were "your last so-called World War," but TNG and ENT confirmed that the two conflicts were separate armed confrontations decades apart.

Since Spock's line came first, TNG and ENT are the retcons. No one prior to Encounter at Farpoint could have watched Space Seed and thought World War III happened in the mid-21st Century. The plain meaning of the dialogue was that the Eugenics Wars were WWIII or possibly IV.

Or, using modern fan logic, we could say that TNG is noncanonical because it contradicts established canon.

Tilly's notes on Michael's console are a delight. Among other things, there's a to-do list with items such as "Get deodorant" and "Reply to Airiam," a message from Michael that reads, "Tilly - Congratulations on beating your personal best on the CTP race you'll have to do even better next time," and a whole bunch of notes. The notes include musings on whether Morse code can be used at warp.

Some others:
  • Make a list of my favorite plays
  • Read favorite plays
  • Organize movie night with crew
  • Subspace mom
  • Exhibit stoic behavior while speaking to...
  • Get area rug for our room.
  • To thine own self be true, be light to other...
  • I hope and dream of a new galactic peace
  • Research Starfleet's favorite opera
  • Make bed and organize laundry
  • Be more self aware
  • Know that I am allowed to be happy, practice understanding my nervous energy
  • Do not forget to practice my standing posture
  • Schedule weekly jog
  • Return Mom's last 5 messages
  • Do a least one or more thing(s) for my health and myself, each day
  • I should practice peaceful behavior, that way I can read people better
  • Can anyone hear you scream in the Mycelial Network?

Pure awesome!

According to a graphic seen in the Enterprise mirror universe episodes, WW III (2026 - 2053) came about as a result over the '"issue of genetic manipulation and human genome enhancement." As for Colonel Green, he was the leader of a faction of ultra-violent ecoterrorists whose actions resulted in the death of 37 million people.

So why did those angels save those people? Is one of them a ancestor to someone we know? Someone who will play a big part in the galaxy later on?

So in the Mirror universe it looks like they were combined.

Could be reasons similar to why the Preservers took Native Americans from Earth. To preserve a fraction of human society should Earth itself fall victim to our long list of prejudices and other weaknesses. The Red Angels may not have realized that warp drive and a new Renaissance in human civilization were just a decade and a couple of generations away and just saved who they could as the nuclear bombs were detonating.

Better safe than sorry.

In the episode, the Terrans accessed the Starfleet archive of the Defiant, and the graphic is from this archive.

Did I read right - I was watching the episode with the sound down and the captions on - where PIke referred to the mirror universe as the Terran universe?

Stamets called it that. Which I guess is an accurate description moreso than "Mirror Universe." A parallel universe where Terrans from Earth brutally dominated much of the known galaxy would be in effect a "Terran Universe."

No, that was an info screen from the Prime Defiant.

I don’t think that one made it into the final episode, so it isn’t canon.

Tilly called it the Terran universe last season too. This is the second time it's been called that. It has never been called the "mirror universe" in canon.

That part did make it onscreen in the final episode, alongside several other historical datapoints.

I too thought of the Preservers when it was revealed to be a transplanted Earth population.

Galactic Federation you say? It isn’t that big.

That's better than the "stellar group at the other end of the galaxy."

Pike has pretty much decided Burnham is his First Officer right? He's bouncing a lot of ideas off of her and asking for her input. I'm loving it but just want to make sure I'm reading this right. One of my theories was that after this season she's going to be captain (that was always the plan I believe but I think this is how we get to that) and the final push will be Pike's recommendation based on his experiences with her. Once she's in the chair she's still going to be learning more because being ready to take the seat doesn't mean you stop learning. Just a new phase in the story.

Burnham becoming captain this season is also one of my predictions. It either happens this one or the next one. Also, Kirk in season three. ;)
