I thought so too. Nothing is worse than the agonizer. A quick death is a reward by comparison.
Someone mentioned that those were the same people we saw in the agonizer booths in episode 10. I'm too lazy to confirm this, but if so, they would have been tortured and THEN spaced.

Yeah I can see that. Whatever it is, I hope Eaglemoss makes a model of it :D! But yes, definitely not the Defiant. I'm kind of glad for this - the showrunners seem to be keeping its true form intentionally vague.
I'm guessing the Defiant is enshrined inside of it.

Which would be a joyous release to me. If it were my mirror self, I'd tell them they were being beamed into space and transport them right back into the agonizer. Only once their mind is gone would you release the body.

I'm glad that they wrapped up the Ash/Voq thing. I really thought they were going to kill Ash off when they showed him floating in space. I was pleasantly surprised when he was beamed back to Discovery and Burnham hiding the data disk with him was very clever. I'm hoping they keep Latif around for season 2. His character has really grown on me.

Seeing Ash and Voq together in one scene was really interesting because the actor did such an incredible job of making his human and klingon performances so distinct. That was a highlight of this new episode for sure.
At this point, I'd predict that Burnham ending the Klingon war will somehow involve mirror Voq. It seems fitting and also she "started" the war. Burnham understands Klingon culture really well and she's got intimate knowledge of Ash/Voq to manipulate the situation.

Well Lorca (if he really is MU Lorca) willingly had himself be put into the agonizer booth knowing full well what it is --- so either MU Lorca is the Bad-Assiest of all Bad-Asses (which might actually be the case), or the agonizer booth is not the be-all end-all of tortures.

Perhaps, but does the gallows man really know how it feels to be hanged? Or the guy pulling the switch really know what electrocution feels like?

We've seen Lorca's badassery throughout the show, so...Q.E.D., I see the agonizer booth as merely the capstone.

Next week, he leaps upon the empress' sword just to show how piss-poor the MU's metallurgy is. ;-)

Maybe -- but I wonder if someone can make it through the MU ranks without doing something that gets them a little bit of time in the agonizer booth.

By the way, "Does the gallows man really know how it feels to be hanged" sounds like an episode name! ;)

It also sounds like a bunch of drunk epistemologists arguing over the Hard Problem of consciousness!
