War is not groovy for humans or other sentient things.
I’m not going to grade this episode yet. It was really hard to watch with the buffering issues. The plot that I saw was pretty good but the whole reason why Burnham went into Sarek’s mind and what Sarek did was lost on me.
I did like the stuff with Lorca though and still find him the most interesting character on the show. I just wish this episode was easier to watch than it was.

They also brought back the little computer tape thingies.
Well they already used the worst design for the Enterprise for Discovery so I'm not too worried. Of course now I must curse Discovery for making that thing grow on me.

ENT also used a 22nd century version of them with labels on the top.

The minute Lorca started rationalizing putting the admiral on a diplomatic mission it had a King David/Uriah feel to it. Goodbye Admiral, may you feed many hungry Klingons. Lorca's actions are despicable, but all the more so the people who allowed a broken man like this to be in command. I suspect they wanted someone who would be more than willing to blow up a ship like Disco rather than let it fall into enemy hands.
I like Frain's take on Sarek. I guess he got his regrets about Burnham out of the way by the time Picard handled his emotional issues.
Tilly is awesome, as always.
Ash is Voq.
Burnham is more interesting, finally.
Scotty apparently turned the "helpful food synthesizer comments" the hell off early on 1701.
Saru is a constant threat assessor. It's his MO. He's going to be giving a lot of situations on the ship a good chunk of his mind, especially Lorca.

That reminds me: the way Stamets is rockin' the hippie lingo now that he's been trippin' on the 'spores, it seems like he'll join up with Dr. Sevrin. All that way missing was his calling Burnham "Herbert".
I think Hippy Stamets is from a Mirror Universe.
I will say this adds even more context to the way Sarek acts in "Journey to Babel"
This episode was delightful. I'm really enjoying what they're doing with Sarek and Michael's relationship and how you can construct reasoning for his relationship with Spock. Feels like this is really adding to the lore rather than just pulling from it!

Sarek is a three-for-three deadbeat dad.
I just want to say that I'm thankful for the episode threads like this. I subscribed to CBS All Access' commercial-free tier for a year last month even though I had my serious reservations about the show. Sadly, the third and fifth episodes confirmed those reservations so I'm done with watching the show. However, I continue my interest in the story line and hope for its success, so threads like these are good for me to catch up without watching. 
Did he abandon his kids?
Whoa... this is probably the first episode that I have liked straight through without having a moment where I had to stop and say to myself, "I hope they figure out what they're doing on this show."
Great episode. I loved the utilization of ENT era Vulcan conflicts and the enrichment of Spock's admission story to Vulcan Academy and perception on his homeworld through the prism of Michael and Sarek was fascinating.
Stamets is the mirror version. Calling it. I love that a grumpy hard ass in our universe would be a chill hippie in the mirror universe.
The theory that Lorca becomes Garth of Izar finally made some sense to me tonight, And the heavy make up day he tweeted back in production days then took down could be this incident...
"Prior to stardate 5718, Captain Garth of Izar suffered an accident in which he was maimed and dying. He was transported to this planet by an unnamed Federation starship."
I have a feeling that unnamed ship is Discovery.
This would also make so much sense as to why Axanar got chased down by CBS. With the "obscure character" cited in the lawsuit and the rumblings that they "had plans involving elements from the fan film".

I wonder if Lorca has a drinking problem?
It was mentioned in the last episode, once when they were in the cell and again when they were escaping in the Raider.
