"No one has seen a Klingon in a hundred years. Not since Phlox the Destroyer turned them into smooth-headed freaks."

"Captain, I think they may have overcompensated their deformities."

Soooo my cable went out during 60 Minutes and didn't come back until about 8:08 PM.
I had Star Trek DVR'd but the first 20 minutes or so (while the cable was out) didn't get recorded.

not seen Klingon in nearly 100 years is canon error... battle of Danutu 5 anyone?

"Fleeting run-ins" now, according to the Admiral. I guess Donatu V, whatever happened to Michael's family, and *maybe Axanar* could all be some of those fleeting run-ins.

This is moving so very slowly. I don't mind that it takes effort to get the ball rolling, but in nearly an hour the ball has barely been nudged. I wonder if some folks realize they're really only getting the first half of this premiere because the second half (Battle At The Binary Stars) is only on CBS All Access?

"Massive photonic activity."

Bright light. The Beacon of Kahless, or whatever.

Has anyone told the Klingons that it will be hundreds of years before most if their brethren see it?

Well, I'm sure that this is one bit that they will explain after the commercial.

I'm watching long minutes of unidentifiable actors in immobile masks lumber s-l-o-w-l-y about and utter gibberish.

And that's the translated version.

The long scenes with the Klingons are killing the momentum for me. We get it already. And the flame thing was silly.

Seems like this could have been dispensed with more efficiently, but maybe I'm just anxious to see the Discovery.
