Smallville Summer Hiatus Thread III (Spoilers)

I don't think I could take two years of it. The Zod/Kandor stuff was just so boring. Me guess is the writers thought so too.

I am more and more convinced that the Tower that Zod was trying to build wasn't, originally, meant to be destroyed until the season finale and next season would have been Zod getting his powers.

There seemed to be a shift in the storyline midway through this season, especially after the introduced the Checkmate stuff.

Maybe Robin can appear on Smallville...not really Robin...but Dick Grayson and the circus is in Metropolis??? No!?

Ok! :bolian:

Broc I agree with you regarding the Solar Tower plot being extended through the entire season. I also think that maybe the "flash foward" future Lois saw was meant to extend all the way through. Interesting. There's so many different ways that season nine could have unfolded but didn't

I am actually pretty serious about Dick Grayson on Smallville and a circus coming to Metropolis...I don't think it would hurt Batman and the embargo at all...Robin isn't going to be in the 3rd film...even if he was...it would mess anything up.

Introducing any element of Batman wouldn't hurt the third Batman film. However, the stupid bat-embargo prevents anything directly associated with Batman to not appear on Smallville. Frankly, I was surprised they got away with a mention of Gotham City a few seasons back.

That Bat-embargo is ridiculous at this point...COME ON!!! IT IS SEASON 10 FOR CRYING OUT LOUD!!!

Wasn't the "Graysons" spin off nixed because of the "Bat-Embargo"? I think the embargo is an insane and unnecessary policy to uphold. It might have made sense a decade ago prior to "Batman Begins" when the film franchise had been destroyed by Shumacher and Warner Bros was struggling to develop something that would be successful and resonate with the fans again but now that Christopher Nolan has clearly resurrected the franchise and made it a overwhelming success to the point where fans are clamoring for his third Batman film I don't think it would hurt to have Bruce Wayne show up for an episode or two on Smallville. In fact it would only help the series ratings in my view.

But you build up to it with Mark Hammil as the Joker for a couple episodes or Vicki Vale freeelancing through the Planet Offices.

Played by Yvonne Stravinsky because of her entrance in the pilot of Chuck where Chuck and Morgan are singing that Prince song... V-V-V-Vikki VALE! V-V-V-Vikki VALE! V-V-Vikki VALE! I mean, it's not like she's spent any time with a disgruntled exemployee of Smallville who might warn the Ozzie off?

Forget about it...Lois Lane & Vicki Vale!!! Erica Durance & Yvonne Stravinsky!!!

I am sure that had something to do with it.

I'm also sure it was nixed because it was a very weak idea with a limited premise.

"Batman comes to Smallville..."

Fucking ratings GOLD!

No shit!

Forget about it...Lois Lane & Vicki Vale!!! Erica Durance & Yvonne Stravinsky!!!

Two of the most overrated women on the planet.

But they are not in any Joss Whedon production...

:shifty:

It's not about messing up SMALLVILLE, or helping SMALLVILLE'S ratings. It's about not diluting the BATMAN movie franchise, which is going great guns now, so Warner is understandably inclined to just keep things the way they are.

Think about it. SMALLVILLE has already lasted nine years (!) without Batman and is wrapping up next season anyway. From any practical business standpoint, the bat-embargo hasn't hurt SMALLVILLE, so why rock the boat now? Especially this late in the day?

We may not agree with the embargo, but from Warner's POV, there's absolutely no reason to reconsider their original decision. SMALLVILLE worked. The BATMAN movies are working. Why mess with a good thing?

There's nothing to be gained from it . . . .

By this point in Smallville's timeline we should have a fairly young Batman.

But they're probably holding him back and he's still in training. Bruce in "Batman Begins" spent 7 years training.

The producers told us years ago that this was never going to happen. Why don't people believe them?

"When is Bruce Wayne going to appear?"

"Never. We're not allowed to use Batman."

"Okay, but what about this season, is Bruce going to appear?"

"We already answered that. No Batman on SMALLVILLE. Sorry.

"Sure, sure. But when is Bruce going to appear?"

(groan.)
