Smallville Summer Hiatus Thread III (Spoilers)

Geez...I must've been totally brain dead. Of course I know who Nuclear Man is but why in Rao's name did I confuse him with FIRESTORM? Please Smallville producers give us some real actual news so we don't drive each other crazy with our inane statements and comments :)

The full title of the 80s comic was The Fury or Firestorm the Nuclearman.

It's a n honest error anyone could have made if they knew far too much shit no one with a shred of dignity could own up to with out a little threat of torture.

So, for fun. If they did introduce Nuclear Man on Smallville, how would they do it?

Here is my take: So, Zod is sucked into the Book of Rao, but, for some reason, the blue Kryptonite isn't allowed in. Perhaps because it is part of the radioactive remains of Krypton. Anyway, as the beam of light is being shot through space, the blue knife with Clark's blood is jettisoned as it took a little while for the beam to recognize what it was. The blue kryptonite now also has some elements of the Book of Rao beam infused in it.

The blue kryptonite flies through Earth's sun. A chemical/biological/science fictional reaction happens and creates Nuclear Man. He floats through space (at a fairly fast speed) and eventually crash lands on Earth. He has no memory of who he is or where he came from. He realizes he has powers, but can't control them and doesn't know what he is fully capable of.

As the season progresses, Watchtower picks up on him and Clark brings him to Smallville. Chloe gives him the false identity of "Nick Clear". Clark tries to train him in his powers, but we soon discover that his Id is too strong and he keeps acting on it. To make matters worse, he likes it and doesn't like people trying to tell him no.

At first he tries to counter/release this drive by being a crimefighter like Clark. However, he never gets credit for it and people keep assuming it is the Blur who does all these things. He pressures Clark to clear up the mess, but Clark refuses to because he isn't ready to expose himself/identity to the world. This just upsets Nuclear Man.

He sees himself as an equal to the Blur, but will always live in his shadow (since he came second) and will never break out as a hero on his own. He ultimately decides to be a counter to the Blur by setting himself up as a super villain to commit crimes, something that he increasingly likes to do. However, he gets bored of petty stuff and sets his sights on something bigger. He eventually concocts some sort of scheme that puts Metropolis/Smallville/Earth in jeopardy, forcing Clark to confront and stop his protegee.

What do you think? I know it has shades of the Doomsday and Zod arcs, but so be it. :p

^ I like the Nick Clear part...the thing about Nuclear Man is that he was originally meant to be Bizzaro and they've already done Bizzaro on Smallville.

They also did Zod on Smallville before as well.

Well...this one can be based on the second Nuclear Man...the one who made it in the final cut of Superman 4. ;)

I know! Michael Rosenbaum can do his voice! :p

Hey I used to love that show...run around with me cape and pine after TV Lana...oh wait...that sounds familiar!

I'm surprised that they've never had Stacy Haiduk do a guest-spot on the show, especially back when Annette O'Toole and Kristin Kreuk were still regulars. Just think: we could have had three generations of Lana Lang's in one scene!

Talk about a missed opportunity.

I stumbled across this article. I realize that it is about a year old and things could have easily changed, but have we seen the last of Zod?

While Smallville showrunners Brian Peterson and Kelly Souders revealed to us at San Diego Comic-Con that they were hopeful for another season beyond the upcoming ninth - and had, in fact, signed up Callum Blue's Zod for two years as part of a long-term arc

But Callum has done good TV, and being forced into another year of Smallville might just make him drink as hard as Mason from Deadlike me.

Hells, he even did an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures which aired midrun of Smallville no matter when it was filmed that we got to see what this guy thought pantommie acting looked like...

Add Emily Proctor to that mix and it would have been the best Lana sandwhich ever.

Two year arc? Interesting. I just wish they did they're own thing with Zod and not do a Smallville version of the New Krypton storyline if they were going to bring Zod back again. The first Zod episodes were fantastic and fun and were an event, but this was prolonged and a lot of fans seem to lose interest. Callum was okay but I he think overacted and his delivery was over dramatic. i enjoyed Zod best when he was having normal conversations with people and not shouting and spitting lol.

Zod's depature was abrupt so when they bring him back again, his depature will be abrupt once more in typical Smallville fashion.
