Smallville Summer Hiatus Thread III (Spoilers)

The producers told us years ago that this was never going to happen. Why don't people believe them?

"When is Bruce Wayne going to appear?"

"Never. We're not allowed to use Batman."

I don't think it is a case of the producers not wanting to use him as opposed to not being allowed to use him.

If it wasn't for the Bat-Embargo, I bet ten-to-one Bruce would have appeared on Smallville. They already had two knock-offs already: Adam Knight (who, according to rumor, was supposed to be revealed to be Bruce Wayne, but was nixed midway though by TPTB) and Green Arrow (who seemed to be given many more shades of Batman that GA didn't already have).

.

Probably. But why do people keep expecting the rules to change, especially after all these years? If nothing else, Warner has been totally consistent on this issue. It's not like they've been hinting that they might change their mind if enough fanboys on the internet complain . . . .

Sometimes "no" really does mean "no."

Do you remember how aroused you felt when they mentioned Batman on Lois and Clark? It was, god bless them, like permission at some point to film a World's Finest episode.

Or what about when Robin on Teen Titans, a show which was also told no Batman, was kicking the poop out of the Terminator on the top of some building progressively felling the one story tall "letters" to some corporate legend mounted to the top of the skyscraper comptrolling some billionaires fiscal empire, when Slade goes all Darth Vader "I can be your father and you can rule at my side" and then as the final letter to the cooperate masthead surrounding the two brightly adorned gladiators, like two tonne dominoes, keels over, the "camera" zooms out and pans down giving us the birds eye view of the down scattered letters W, and A, and Y, and N, and E right as Robin screams back at the super villain with the adoption papers "I ALREADY HAVE A FATHER!"

Revenge of the Syth sucked so hard.

but the foremost reason that I want Batman on Smallville, WRITTEN PROPERLY, is that Bats won't go on about Clark's potential, Bats will say things like "Idiot. Do us all a favour and give up now before you kill someone."

Hope.

And it is something fans clearly want to see. So, of course, they are going to keep on talking about it.

Besides, we all know it won't happen. The line of discussion wasn't about that. We were just discussing the merits (or lack thereof) of the outlived-its-usefulness Bat-Embargo.

And we need something to talk about before any real news starts popping up! :p

I suppose. I guess the pragmatist in me just doesn't see the point in discussing stuff that will never happen--for nearly ten years! :)

Nolan has said that he wouldn't have included Superman in the Batman films in any way or something akin if that's what you mean Guy but I don't think he was given an embargo on Superman characters if he wanted to use them.

Recently, nearly a decade ago prostitution was legalized in my country.

Being told I am not allowed to do some thing is different from making a concious choice not to do that same thing.

You make it sound like Nolan's vision is the only thing in the way and that Warner Brothers would bend over to what ever magic thought he had which would tend to make them billions of dollars intot he next decade.

I have drank considerably less since I came of age.

After all the money THE DARK KNIGHT made, I suspect he could have Krypto the Super-Dog if he wanted him . . . .

Honestly, it would be epic if Nolan made his 3rd Batman film with an over-the-top campy feel the likes of which surpass the Adam West TV show and Batman & Robin combined!

Some news from Kryptonsite

Season 10 Begins Shooting July 12

Smallville's executive producers have revealed that Tom Welling was in the office yesterday to talk about the upcoming season, and that Season Ten will start shooting on July 12.

Hopefully we will get spoilers soon...like within a week or so. :)

Shelby needs an episode to himself.

O, and we need to have some really confused bugger who gets super strength from eating meteor effected spinach and he's trying not to get locked up in the nut house for claiming that Popeye comics are real.

Shooting begins in a couple of weeks hmmm...well that could mean we could start getting some casting news if there is any significant news to report pretty soon.

It be nice if they can get Michael Rosenbaum back for Lex a few episodes going into the series finale.

^ Welling said he wants to get everyone back for a few episodes next season.

So, maybe. Who knows?
