Smallville Summer Hiatus Thread III (Spoilers)

I'm surprised we haven't already got an announcement on a Green Arrow spin off...I've no interest in the Jamie Reyes Blue Beetle. In fact the only comic I have him in is the Infinite Crisis hardcover. I'd be surprised if the series lasted more than a season...I'd been more willing to sit through "Aquaman" than "Blue Beetle". I'm wondering if there has been no "Green Arrow" announcement because DC ENT is still working on trying to pump out a film.

I like the idea of Jaime Reyes BB...I guess we will have to wait and see...as long as it is written better than SMALLVILLE...it should be ok. I am not sure about Green Arrow...is there a film in the works???

^ There was that SuperMax film talked about a year or so ago. But I have not heard anything since.

But imagine they got Giffen and DeMattias on Board to do JLI Beetle and BOOSTER.

(So much goodness on Youtube with those two.)

The TV Flash from the early 90s was dead in the comics, and Jaimie Reyes Blue Beetle comic was cancelled ages ago.

Just the abandoned Supermax concept...I'm pretty sure though that Green Arrow was on Geoff Johns to do film list he posted a few days ago. I'd not be surprised to find out they're working on something new.

Right now a Green Arrow series would be better than a movie...but I am not sure if either would be real popular...and TV series being on The CW would be even worse. :sigh:

something we should be thankful for.

See, I completely disagree. The SuperMax idea was one of the most original superhero film ideas I ever heard.

I liked the concept too myself.

I'd like to see either an Aquaman or Green arrow series. That said I think a Zatanna based series could work VERY well on The CW.

There's no doubt I'd tune in to watch Serinda swan every week.

I dont hate the SuperMax! idea, just seems a shame to use a copyright hero, take away everything recongiseable about him to the point where he could have been a brand new hero.

As for a Green Arrow series, watching a UK pace Ollie is not someone I would want to see with a series, call me old fashioned but I like a series of willing heroes, something like "Lois & Clark", than what Smallville has become. I frequent think the Blur will end up being a villan at the end of the show, rather than a true hero.

The draft of the script I read for "Supermax" was okay but it was the Justin Marks draft not the David Goyer draft which had the cameos from Joker, Lex, etc. .

As I said I like the idea of the movie, I just dont see why it needs to be Green Arrow and not a new "hero" and the inculsion of DC villians was something I liked as well.

the best characters in Prison Break was always the villans, be it T-Bag, or the Lechero and the wider culture of SONA.

In the script Green Arrow is framed by Checkmate for the murder of one of his closest friends who happens to be a fellow billionaire. I can't remember now the reason or how Ollie escapes.

but does the character need to be Green Arrow, not like he will be wearing his outfit & using his bow to escape the prison is it?

Checkmate is again connunity a movie does not need.

No he doesn't need to be Green Arrow per say but I think he was chosen because he's a "street level" DC character that fans know and maybe a general audience could get behind. Ollie's got that kind of gritty and scruffy and likable quality about him. I'm not sure who else would work in that type of scenario outside of maybe Batman in a type of "Arkham Aslyum" adaption.

it would work better if people knew the Green Arrow backstory, or as a sequel to a Green Arrow movie (or even a sequel to another movie, where Green Arrow had made a cameo)

movies need to be understandable to the general public, who chances are had not heard of him before Smallville, and as such the movie could waste alot of time setitng up the Green Arrow back story, for a characters that never appears.
