Spoilers Skeleton Crew [Spoiler Discussion]

Everything Jod has moved with the 'force' so far has been some sort of metal and always with his right hand.

I don't think he's moved anything that wasn't metal.

Well we didn't see what he moved to distract the guards, but it sounded like metal.

Finally had a chance to watch this week's episode and it was well worth the wait. And that was just for the unexpected but very welcomed appearance of Kelly Macdonald as Pokkit! As a lifelong fan of hers, her surprise appearance was the biggest highlight of an already fantastic episode.

I love how the show continues to subvert not just pirate tales and childhood summer adventures, but also Star Wars itself. I'm sure I wasn't the only person who figured Wim would activate the lightsaber upside down (especially since Jod forewarn the abasement) but I was delighted by that moment nonetheless. And yet, the show also still plays the 80s greatest tropes and I'm loving every minute.

Even though Jod's not-so-sudden but inevitable betrayal was expected and I continue expect him to have a roguish turn towards the good by the end, I'm eager to see how this all will continue to play out.

So, Betsy Kettleman is still up to her old tricks
THANK YOU!

That was driving me crazy. Yup. Kettleman's gonna Kettleman.
YES! Doubly thank you! I recognized Kelly Macdonald right away but I couldn't quite place Julie Ann Emery. Much obliged.

I'm not really convinced there's any significance to his mother's identity, it just doesn't feel like they've really set it up to be the big mystery a lot of people are treating it like.
The only reason I speculated before is because I want more Kerry Condon forever. Which, yes, I know, goes against my whole rant a couple of weeks ago of wanting to see less of the parents.

I think the highlight for me has to be the Hutt eating the Troglof, with his reaction being merely a vexed, barely exasperated "oh not again!" Though the less thought about the mechanics of that whole situation, the better.
That both cracked me up (for its invoking of Douglas Adams) and broke my heart (for its sheer disgustingness).

Definite 'Temple of Doom' vibes in this episode, in more ways than one. Curious that they're still obfuscating Rennod's appearance; could be his is a face we'd recognise (smart money is still on the supervisor, who's bound to show up sooner or later), or it could just be a red herring and that really was his body pinned to the wall by a knife.
I suspect it'll be another subversion. Look at how much we're guessing both his identity and Fara's. This show knows exactly who its audience and its playing us all like fiddles, even when we know it.

One thought does occur; if he's indeed still alive and SM-33 sees him, would that break Jod's hold over the droid? I mean if he's not dead and didn't yield to Fern, then by the pirate code he would still technically be Captain, right? Plus he sounds paranoid enough to have build in an override regardless.
I really like that idea so I hope you're right on that point.

It’s interesting that Malcom Hulke, who co-wrote The War Games, in his novelization of Colony in Space pretty much blatantly stated that the Master was the same guy that was up to no good in the War Games.
Obviously I haven't read the novelization, but this is confirmed by the book's Wikipedia page. Hey, if it's part of the head canon of the guy who created the character, then that's good enough for my head canon as well.

Jod's a full on Jedi and he's been trying to track down a bad guy for many years. He's taken on the role of a pirate and he's been very convincing. In the opening scenes in episode 1, it shows Jod only finding a single credit on the ship they attacked. It was like it left intentionally to say 'haha'. Jod has duped many people over the years, which makes it appear he's a real pirate. I don't think he's killed anyone. When he found out about the mint, I think he knew that was the person he was after and they're hiding in the supervisor tower. Big lightsaber dual coming up...

:)

You don't think he's killed anybody? How about all the people on that freighter that the pirates killed in the first episode under his orders? What about the captain of that ship who was thrown out of the airlock on his orders?

My money is Jod was the Captain that was betrayed by his Concubine and the Concubine was Pokkit. Kelly MacDonald is to much of a accomplished actor to not only be introduced this late in the show but to not also have a big part in the final episodes IMO. My money is Jod is force sensitive but not a Jedi or ex Jedi. But Pokkit might be one. She went undercover to stop him from looting At attain which is a planet protected by the Jedi even after the fall of the Republic because their is something about it that would help the Empire become even more powerful if they found the planet.
