Ships that *never sailed*

IIRC, Janeway and Chakotay never hitting it off pissed off legions of shippers.

I've also recently noticed that many fans were dissapointed in TPTB for giving up on Worf/Troi. Same probably goes for Picard/Crusher, even though they got married in post-NEM novels.

I for one was pretty dissapointed when Seven picked Chakotay instead of Kim, and I still think Riker had more chemistry with Ro than he ever had with Deanna.

What are your favorite couples that never came to be?

Yea I remember that ship . I was a shipper for those two myself. But I can see how it would have ticked off some people though.

I didn't mind that Seven picked Chakotay though. They kind of suited each other :).

Don't forget in hte alternate "All Good Things..." timeline, Picard and Beverly married and divorced, and she kept the last name.

I always like Jadzia/Bashir, but never wanted them to get together. It was the ultimate friend zone thing.

I kinda wish that Seven got with the Holographic Doctor. Some compelling stories could have been told about such a relationship.

I thought Reed/Sato may have been worth a try.

Julian/Jadzia had a fair amount of fanfic about it back in the day, but I thought they were better suited as friends:)

My favorite that came to be but didn't go beyond the one episode was Picard/ Nella Daren. I thought they were beautifully matched and there were some really lovely moments between them. It would have been so interesting to see how Picard would have handled a relationship while captain. I thought the ending to Lessons (with Daren leaving) was such a cop-out.

There were a lot of couples I think should have got together and never did.

Obviously Janeway and Chakotay should have got together, they had great chemistry, but it seemed a determination of the writers to keep Janeway single.

Also Seven and Harry Kim. Kim's pining after Seven throughout Season 4 meant he shared a lot more scenes with her then Chakotay, in fact, you could argue that he was being built up as a potential love interest, and it makes a lot more sense when you consider the only reason Kim was kept on post-season 3 was because of the actor scoring high in a Top 50 men, or something.

I would have liked Julian and Jadzia to get together, but I'm still happy they remained as friends.

Jake and Ezri is another couple I think should have got together. Although I liked Ezri ending up with Bashir, it would have been even better had she gone with Jake, the scene they shared in Shadows and Symbols showed a lot of chemistry, and, and this is always my reasoning, it would have earned Jake the status of main character for Season 7.

As for Picard and Crusher, I was annoyed when the movies didnt show any of this, although I did like that they got back together post- Nemesis.

Picard and Crusher. In "Attached", it seemed the writers had finally decided to get them together, especially since there were only about 10 episodes left, but they copped out.
Voyager kind of messed up it's ships, IMO, as I would've liked Janeway/Chakotay and Seven/Doc. Or really even Seven/Kim would've been preferable. BTW, anyone who likes JC or 7K should read the alternate universe story "Places of Exile" (Hell, even if you don't like those pairings. That story rocks.).
In Enterprise, there was sometimes hints of attraction between Malcolm and Hoshi. For example in "Marauders", Hoshi teaches the Innocent Civilians to fire phasers, and Malcolm stands in the background with a "I think I'm in love..." look.

P/C never happened because the writers wanted Picard available for a romantic liason in the TNG movies...

My Q is why this liaison couldn't just have been with Crusher, personally I would have preferred that in INS...

I definitely agree with Picard/Crusher and Janeway/Chakotay. There was definitely chemistry there that could have been further explored. Hell, the TNG episode "Attached" should have sealed the deal with P/C and yet it never happened. At least the novels finally had the nerve to tackle the P/C relationship. J/C fans would feel bittersweet about the exploration of a romance between Janeway and Chakotay in the VOY novel Full Circle.

As much as I prefer Picard with Crusher, I will say that his relationship with Neela Darren in "Lessons" was interesting and well-executed. She seemed to be a good match for Picard, and it's a shame that she only lasted for one episode.

I loved the flirtation between Jadzia and Bashir, but I honestly never expected them to get together. I kinda liked the way they played Bashir as a lovestruck puppy following her around. I think she enjoyed the attention but would have never considered him as a potential suitor.

I have to say that I was a big fan of the Doctor/Kes relationship. I think that could have blossomed into something sweet. Those two also had great chemistry. I didn't particularly like how the Doctor became so attached to Seven of Nine in the later years; I much preferred him with Kes and it's a shame that their relationship didn't have an opportunity to develop further.

Definitely the Doctor and Seven. They had a Henry Higgins/Eliza Doolittle (My Fair Lady) relationship already, so a romantic attachment would have worked nicely. However, Seven tended to see the Doctor as a father-figure, so that was more true to her character.

The Seven/Chakotay nonsense in "Endgame" would have worked if it had been rewritten to be Seven having dates with holo-Chakotay, or real-Chakotay discovering her dates with his holographic self.

Tasha/Data. Drunk or not, it did happen. And it would have done so much more to develop Tasha's character so maybe the actress would not have left (she was my favorite TNG character).

B'Elanna and Harry, I loved the interaction of these two in Caretaker. I thought she could have made a man of him.

Picard/Crusher was a doomed relationship. After all, Wesley had to leave for StarFleet Academy. We all know long distance relationships rarely work.:guffaw:

I always was partial to B'Elanna Torres and Harry Kim getting together, even though I like Tom Paris and B'Elanna getting together. -- RR

^Sector Seven: Also, Riker would have gotten jealous. And now I'm having horrible flashbacks to that fic...

I've always wanted to read Riker/Beverly fic. Not angsty OTP fic so much as an ill-advised hook-up between friends whose canon love interests both seem so frickin' high-maintainance. Always thought they'd be cute.

What "fic"? I just made that up. Point me in the right direction... I just HAVE to read it now!

Scotty and Uhura.

Oh, wait, I thought this thread was about ships that rammed icebergs at full speed. My bad :)
