Series 5 trailer

I'm already sick of the shallow, and fucking insulting, "He's ugly/got a big chin/forehead/hair" shit. Who gives a fuck what he looks like so long as he can act?

Contrast with the "Amy is hot" comments.

He's sexy as fuck.

I'm just sick of the shallowness that seems to be infecting everything. I want well told, well acted TV, I don't care if they're "hot" or "ugly" just give me good telly.

With all this speculation about him being too similar to Tennant (which I personally don't get because we've seen him in the role for all of 2 minutes...) has anyone stopped to consider that because the Doctor didn't want to change, that he didn't that much? I read somewhere the other day that Time lords can usually choose what they want to turn into, just in most cases of the Doctor he was near death at that time and couldn't control the regeneration.

Tis food for thought...

Well that's fine. I agree that it shouldn't matter - my favourite Doctor is Pertwee, I've never felt the need to be alone after watching The Sea Devils - but it's not surprising that people will talk about an attractive (or otherwise) actor.

And please don't pretend it's new. Fans have been fixated on Leela's leather costume and Peri's ample cleavage for decades.

No, it's not new but it's getting worse, likely due to the shallowness of American television.

Have you seen most British television these days? ;)
Depends on what you mean, I watch a lot of British TV, and there are a lot of "glossy" shows now, we still have shows where people look like normal people but there's been talk from ITV and BBC Worldwide people saying they need to cast more attractive people to sell internationally.

The scenes that stand out the most for me:

- the Doctor hitting a Dalek w/a sledge hammer (what does he think that's gonna do?)
- @ the :20 mark, is that below the control room, or just something that looks like it?

Looks very exciting. Not sure about 'Geronimo' (sp?) as a phrase but I'm sure it will grow on me. Smith reminds me of Peter Davison.

well a baseball bat has worked in the past

I am really looking forward to the new series coming up this trailer does look really good, especially the reappearance of the blink status and river song

I have spoke to a girl I used to go to school with today, we have talked Doctor Who in the past, she said the new Doctor looks a bit nerdy, I did Picard Face Palm (a reference she didnt get) and I explained to her that Doctor Who is mostly watched by nerds.

To think my teenage self had feelings for that girl.

She did give me her phone number, but I might wait a day or two before I text her.

Old Who maybe but modern Who? I doubt it - it's a breezy family show and most of the stuff that we discuss to death here doesn't bother or concern 90% of the audience.

Well considering the scene was films literally minutes after Tennant walked off stage from that scene, I'm not surprised Matt chanelled some of his characteristics. At that point they were probably still batting around what his personality would be like.

she actually really liked the episode, pleasing the 90% of the auidence that isnt us is apparntly really easy.

There's nothing here to get excited about - except, perhaps, that Amy is gorgeous - and Smith's waving about of a gun leaves a bad taste.

Also, he's homely.

Odd. I thought he was rather handsome--but I'm not a straight woman or a gay man (I am, at most, a 2 on the Kinsey Scale) so it doesn't matter all that much to me.

Indeed, I think I prefer the doctor be somewhat un-pretty.

Amy is gorgeous, though she does have what I like to call sexy bird legs.

I'd say all three of these doctors have been reminiscent of Peter Davison (my favorite of the old school for his subdued eccentricity--welcome after Tom Baker's antic broadness--and dour humanity) in that they have been young and vital.
