Which I think is totally fair. Promotion though is something entities pays millions for. Like it or not, it is considered important to a degree. Not just in Hollywood. People for decades have decided whether to buy or borrow a book based solely on the description on the back cover. And I will still watch it regardless. Whether its the Same old true formula or something different, doesn't matter to me . My feedback to this point has nothing to do with it being "different ". It's just honest feedback.
Promotional material is bullshit. I saw it for years in retail and its a hollow mockery to me. People spend millions on stupid shit all the time.

My feedback on promotional material will ultimately do nothing on my opinion of the final product.

Mileage will vary and clearly does.

The first trailer of the movie looked bad. The second trailer was a little better. If the movie is successful, the next TV MOVIE will be the Picard Movie with Patrick Stewart.

Haven't we seen enough of Picard? Season 3 of Picard ca very easily be seen as the end of the characters journey. He's in a good place. Let's leave it there.
Alex Kurtzman confirmed that the script has been written, my guess is that it will be a movie where Picard dies and we say goodbye to the TNG crew completely, if that's the case.

I think Patrick Stewart will be too old to participate in something like that by the time it actually happens. And we’ve already said goodbye to these characters in the third season of PIC.

Those all fit well in the parameters of Star Trek. Great characters with some allegory involved. Plus lots of fun, action and comedy but sometimes gets kind of deep. Well deep as far as you can get with a family friendly oriented show. They all have that perfect balance. Also the only reason Gene disliked those movies was because he wasn't get paid.
Um GR himself didn't feel TWoK fit with his "vision", and said as much on many occasions.

And yeah, I think he'd feel the same about DS9 had he been alive when it was created and produced (especially seasons 3-7), and he would never have allowed. DS9 S6 In The Pale Moonlight to be produced.

Actually, if the script is ready, they can start shooting at the end of the year and release it in 2026. I don't think Picard season 3 is a real farewell for the character. The best farewell for this kind of character and actor is to kill the character. If the character is going to die, yes, a single Picard movie can be made. But if they're not going to kill him, there's no need. I don't understand why they didn't kill the character in Picard season 3?

First, you’re assuming that the Section 31 movie will be super popular enough that it will spawn a line of tv movies. I doubt that will be the case.

Second, with the merger of Paramount and Skydance, along with the revenue losses of streaming in general, we really have no idea what the future holds for streaming Trek. Right now the only thing we know for sure is that preproduction for SFA has started. SNW has greenlighted season 4, but that really means nothing at the moment. So a Picard film has a low percentage possibility of being made as of now.

You are right. If I were Skydance, I would close Paramount Plus and license all of its content. For example, I would license Star Trek TV series to Netflix or Prime Video. And I would continue on whatever platform I gave it to.

I wouldn't mind a Section 31 anthology type show if it actually followed up on the hanging Section 31 plot threads from previous shows. An older Malcolm Reed trying and failing to prevent Section 31 from making the jump from Earth Starfleet to the Federation. An older Bashir rolling up his sleeves and vowing to root out Section 31 for good this time after their changeling torture led to the Frontier Day massacre and even Worf seemingly going over to their side by claiming that Section 31 was "a critical division of Starfleet Intelligence".

What we're actually getting here is seemingly a poor James Bond/Mission Impossible copy with arguably the most cartoonish Trek character, Mirror Georgiou, front and center (ironic as Yeoh actually was in a Bond movie and also had a decent Trek character in Prime Georgiou before that character was killed off)

I don't know how the original idea for the S31 tv show was envisioned. This movie could be either the pilot episode or something that was completely reworked from the initial concept (probably the latter, since if we take Carl's statement that he sent Georgiou to a time when the universes were more in-line with each other, the 2330's don't seem to fit that idea.) But the bottom line is that in both instances, CBS/P+ was relying on the bankability of Yeoh rather than the actual concept of Section 31 and how they chose to portray it for the series.

I personally don't think Yeoh is enough of a draw to pull in new audiences other than the ones P+ already has who watch SNW, LDS, PIC, etc. (Actually, I think Michelle Yeoh is highly overrated, but that's another story.) And as for the concept as seemingly presented here, I don't see any of these characters as people I'm really supposed to care about or root for. I think this will just be a one-off thing that will basically kill any further interest in Section 31 and TV movies in general. And, you know what? That might be a good thing.

I was always hoping for a Mission: Impossible-style show, set in the Trekverse. Much like the spin-off show Blacklist: Redemption. I actually enjoyed that show more than its parent, but sadly got canceled after S1.

I think once the Skydance acquisition is complete they will focus on movies instead of TV movies. It would be good for them to close Paramount Plus and license Star Trek content to Netflix and Prime along with the rights to make sequels.

I can't see any of those happening.
